Good news ? the latest Sense experience & Android 4.3 will push to One Dev Edition owners this week & One customers in Canada by month end.

The best release is the ROM you install on your HTC One after rooting it.

And you don't have to wait for HTC or your carrier in the long-run.

You'll also get improved battery life and better performance.

I'm a ViperROM user myself, which includes Sense 5.0. It's not 4.3, I think 4.1 or something like that.

Is there some major update(s) with JB 4.3 I don't know about?

What's wrong with the camera? I haven't used it much at all to know of any issues, but it seems to be working fine.

I have the purple/red camera issues too, plus the camera is always out of focus. I'm hoping 4.3 fixes both these issues, I'd rather not have to request for a replacement phone.

Unlocked doesn't mean anything for the updates. Unlocked just means you can use whatever SIM you want to access any carrier.

You will still receive updates via the carrier if you bought a carrier version of the phone.

it was already confirmed by HTC that unlocked version do not depend on carrier approval to get firmware updates. several people who contacted HTC directly (motivated by groundless misinformation such as this one) about this issue were told as much.

That is completely in opposition to what HTC said earlier. There was a lengthy thread where this was discussed and Jerry confirmed that DE's will not get updates that aren't carrier approved.
