[Rumor] Verizon to stop selling future Pixel phones

For some reason Google chooses to release the Pixel after Samsung releases the Note phones and Apple releases the iPhones. Apple and Samsung are by far the best at marketing their phones. They should have waited on the Pixel 4 until Feb of 2020 with the latest chip set and 5G. For the most part Apple users buy the iPhone based on the user experience but many Android users chase the latest specs.

It's bad news for Google if Samsung becomes even more dominant in the USA. Samsung may end up dictating to Google what Android will look like.

I'd rather Pixel be an August launch but I mean that's up to their engineering timelines. To regular customers, "latest chipset" doesn't matter.

There's also the "Google makes Android and dumping tons of marketing dollars behind the Pixel could **** off Android partners" angle....

We would need to know what percentage of Pixels are sold through the carrier to know if it really is an impact. Also wondering if future unlocked models would be compatible with their carrier advanced feartures.

The problem is is the fact that pixel phones have a wonderful wonderful user experience, but the flagship price tag. Consumers expect a flagship specs along with the flagship price tag. Consumers don't understand the smooth fluid software experience that Google phones have just without the higher specs. yeah, there was a time when Nexus phones couldn't be bought a carrier stores. I had to buy my older Nexus 6 and 6P phones off of eBay from a seller locally in my area. Nexus phones also had crappy cameras, pixel phones due to software image processing have wonderful cameras. and be very curious to see if one plus phone sell anymore so at Verizon versus Pixel phones. The problem is not just the lack of marketing, but feel like a flagship specs. And one plus phones have the same thing. They title themselves as a flagship killer... I mean, for a long time, phones have been a status symbol aka the iPhone and Galaxy phones.

I doubt that most customers buying iPhone and Galaxy care about specs though.

Anecdotally - I think iPhone and Galaxy caught up to Pixel in terms of camera which means there really isn't a reason to buy Pixel assuming camera is the most important feature.

Maybe Verizon was just pi$$ed that they no longer had the exclusive.

I disagree. Albeit the camera is phenomenal, bit there is a lot more to the Pixel that attracts consumers. The software for the Pixel is soooo good. It's the smoothest most intuitive experience I have ever encountered on a smartphone. Google Assistant alone puts it head and shoulders over iOS. Samsung is going to be feature packed. But their software feels disjointed sometimes.

I just don't see "normals" buying a Pixel because of the Pixel software experience.

Also, I can have Google Assistant on all the other Android phones (and the iPhone) so...?

It doesn't work the same on the iPhone. And yes, it can be had on other Android devices along with Bixby, Alexa, or whatever else they have on the device.

Aggressive. I mean yes iPhone and Galaxy phones now have much better cameras. they can run the Pixel I still believe is in this relating. Yes, the software experience on pixels is so so good! Every application just works flawlessly. I mean, I'm not saying I have hundreds of applications on my pixel, but when I need something to work it works beautifully. And I also don't have duplicate applications like on Galaxy phones. Everything is very straightforward efficient and effective. I also truly live with you we're going to Google Assistant. Yes, every Android phone has Google Assistant built in we know this. But for a core Google piece of software such as Google Assistant, you can trigger Google Assistant on Pixel phones in many different ways and then just so much more intuitive to use on Pixel phones versus Galaxy phones or any other smartphone; it's the core DNA of the phone. Yes, Samsung Galaxy software feels disconnected and frustrating at times. At least that's how I remember it to be.

As someone dual-wielding an Android phone and an iPhone, it's close enough given the OS limitations.

All these phones are so close today, from a person uses multiple trust me you cant go wrong on any of them just choose what works for you .

But back to main topic is this still a rumor for Verizon and pixel ?

Excellent excellent point. Can't go wrong with any one of these options. back to the topic again, I'm hearing more reports that it's still just a rumor and it could be fake / false. Hoping so.

From another thread looks fake , hopefully.

Pixel 5 is probably safe. Beyond that though...

Probably right , I just think a manufacturer needs all carriers to be as successful as possible.
Yeah, that's most likely the case. Well, I'm sure the rumors are not true and hopefully the pixel 5 will be amazing!

I still think back to that god awful Pixel 4 presentation by Google. It was so bad it seemed like even the speakers didn't want to be there.

I think this is a good thing, Pixel users, including myself, want to buy Pixel phones but if they keep making "lackluster" phones compared to other flagships, it will be a good thing having the industry shame them vs its users. Maybe this will kick Google into action and either drop the price of their flagship or actually start competing in the hardware market.

I do love my P4 XL but became bored with it quickly. Compared to Samsung and Apple, the pixels are just not worth it in the $1,000 + range. Standard users looking at a Note 10, S10, S20 next to a pixel 4, what are they going to choose?

I mean - I can recall Pixel commercials with the Verizon tag at the end. :/
All the stores I went into don't know much about the pixel phones. That's what I was trying to reference. They're just on an island it seems. Then the salesman usually push you towards iPhone or Samsung.

But you're right, they have commercials here and there...I don't have cable though and don't know much about that. I see Samsung and iPhone advertisements everywhere
