Running .jnlp file on nexus 7

I have an app thgat requires opening a.jnlp file. The file downloads buyt won't open. I have installed Java already and have tried it both thru chrome and firefox beta. can anyone helpme out?

I don't think you can without opening on your device via something like slapshtop from a computer.

It's a java applet file right? Android runs apps as APKs and while Android is built on Java that doesn't mean it'll run it, at least not natively. JNLP is Sun too right?

I'm a teacher, and the file I'm trying to open is for my gradebook. I can take attendance thru the main site, but gradebook open the jnlp file. (h well, it would have been nice....
