Running Services - What Should be Running?

What services should be running on a base G2X, assuming the bloatware crap services are gone? In an effort to improve battery life I've rooted and frozen all the bloatware, but I'm curious what are the bare necessity services that are required to keep the phone running. Anyone know of a link that explains each service name, what it is, and what it does? For example: I've got an "AlarmService" running that is references to "Market", is that necessary? What is it doing?

Are custom ROMs typically better on battery life because they do not include crap services?

Depends on what apps you have installed. Unless the background services need to poll your data connection I wouldn't worry too much about battery consumption.
