S-Pen for Note 2 and Note 8.0

I was surprised that my S-Pen for my Galaxy Note II didn't work on my Galaxy Note 8.0.
However, the S-Pen for the Note 8.0 worked on both devices.

I have the Note 2, 3, 8 & 10 and all work interchangeably.

Was the note8's spen still in the holder when you tried using the second pen?
There is a battery saving feature under s-pen settings which disables pen detection when a pen is in the holder.

I am thinking the OP's S-Pen issues come down to the S-Note pages on the devices are in view mode when trying to use the pen. Tapping the icon on the bottom left corner should switch between edit mode and view mode. The S-Pen of both devices should are interchangeable on my Note 2 and Note 8. Also when testing this each pen worked while the device being tested had its respective pen in its holding slot and battery saver was unchecked in both Notes.
