S-View case problem with Note 3

[Android Central Question]

After using the S-View case with my Note 3 for the last 3 years I decided to update to a traditional phone case. However once I remove the phone from the S-View case and try to put the original cover back on the screen goes black. I have tried taking the S-View case off with battery still installed and the phone still on, hoping to then put the original backing case back on. But as soon as I remove the S-View case from the phone the screen goes black and stays that way until I put it back on.

I've got a Note 3 at home I can try and take a look at tomorrow, I have the S View cover but don't use it.

I think it's related to a setting under accessories that enables the phone to know it's using the case.

Thank you for looking into it. Under "Settings" "Accessories" "S View Cover" - I unchecked "Automatic Unlock" but that did not solve the problem. Hopeful that someone can help me out!
