S-View good for protection?

I just ordered my GN3 from Verizon on Saturday and it should arrive Monday or Tuesday.

I'm going without the Verizon insurance, so I need some degree of protection. The S-View seems like a good choice that gets rid of the need for a screen protector.

But how much actual impact protection do you think it will provide? Seems like just a thin layer of leather.

Since the S-View is out of stock at Verizon and at Samsung, I decided to just get a Spigen Bounce or Neo-Hybrid in the meantime and switch later. Any advice or experience with this is much appreciated

The S View protects the screen.
That's it. I have a white one.
And I seriously just bought it because it looks "pretty". The right side of the phone is exposed So it can be scratched and all that if your still not careful about it.
If - Heaven forbid, it fell while the flap is open, the screen is left unprotected.
Also, as it replaces the back cover, it's not much of a protection really. Just for aesthetic.

This is my opinion only.
I hope no one hates me. XD

If you want a folio case look into the Tech 21 leather folio. It is slightly cheaper than the Samsung case and offers more protection.

I'm looking at the Tech21 Snap with Cover. Looks pretty good! I do wonder how uncomfortable it will be when you actually have to open the folio and make a call with it.

That's part of the reason I'm not immediately going for a flip-style cover. While I do kind of like them and think they look nice, I wonder how it will affect making calls and taking pictures. I suppose if you fold it all the way back, making calls shouldn't be a problem, but leaving it hanging open to take photos seems like it could be a nuisance.

Tech 21 has a regular fitted case as well and it is pretty nice. Fits snugly and feels good in the hand.

Is Tech 21 a particularly good brand? I watched the video of their impactology technique, and it looked nice. But it's hard for me to tell if that is just good marketing.

I was thinking of just going with a simple Spigen case for like $10-15 on amazon if I'm just going for a non-flip case. However, I'm not sure how this brand compares to Tech 21.

I've ordered the S_View Flip case will try it out for a few days if it don't work I'll take it to store and get a refund. I'm a right hand amputee so I need something with a grip.

Also does the S_View snap on the back of phone in place of the original back.

i like to talk on the phone with the flap closed....no face grease on the screen.....honestly with the voice control for pics i hold the phone with both hands to keep it still and holding it with my hands holding mostly the cover in landscape gives me a better grip than without the flip case, if that makes sense. in portrait i tend to hold the phone in my left hand like you would hold a paperback book. remember those.....they are made with paper...we used to read them before ebooks took over :)

Hmm. I guess calls could be done with the cover closed, at least once you dial or answer the incoming call. I hadn't really thought of that for some reason. I think there are some other flip-style cases that don't have the top cut-out though and you couldn't do that with them, but the S View Cover does so you can. As for photos, I did mean landscape. I didn't think portrait ones would be that difficult, because you can just hold the device and cover like a book, as you said. Landscape seems slightly harder, but I guess if you can get a good grip on the case and it can still be held steady, then it's not so bad. Thanks for the info.

It is a very good brand. You should give it a try. It is pricey though.
