S10 Fingerprint Scanner Question

I was just wondering how the S10’s in screen fingerprint scanner is working after the latest software updates and now that the phone has been out for about 6 months.

From reading reviews as well as threads on here you have to train yourself to use the correct spot on the S10 with your finger, it’s a bit slower than the S9 fingerprint scanner. I also read that there was a recent software update that sped it up so just curious what everyone here is seeing with it.

Thanks

When I first got my S10, I had a 85% success rate using the FPS with the preinstalled plastic screen protector. I recently remove it (it was getting scratched) and replaced it with a vinyl TPU self healing protector and it now works much better with about a 95-98% success rate.

It's decent. In the end i think i would have rather seen a traditional scanner. That would have allowed fully enclosed cases if desired or the installation of many brands of tempered glass screen protectors.

It was a disaster for me, until I removed the pre-installed protector. Since then, I've been very happy with it.

What brand? I, too, am having issues and would like to try something.

It's called "OTAO Galaxy S10 Screen Protector" and it installed very easily with no air bubbles. It's not glass, so the surface feels a little rubbery to the touch. It took me about a day to get used to it, as I normally don't use any screen protector.

That's interesting. It didn't work well at all for me until the first system update, then it worked OK--and that was with the factory "screen protector".

Of course, that's a horrible screen protector, so I took it off and went with Zagg. I re-did my fingerprints, and now it's back to working OK.

But not great. If you want to see how a FPS should work, go find someone with a Galaxy S9+. (Or maybe an S10e, with the FPS on the side button--I don't know, but it can't work as badly as the in-screen thing we have.)

Agree with TheSapient, but with caveat. Remove the factory installed screen protector and then proceed to use no screen protector.

It also helps to have multiple fingerprint scans (of the same finger). Particularly to do this after installing a screen protector - and if you absolutely have to use one, make sure you have increased touch sensitivity toggled to 'ON' under display settings.
