S10e video recording issue? *SOLVED*

Hello S10e owners,

I posted this question on another forum, but did not get any information, so hopefully some of you can either confirm that this is a problem on your S10e's ... or maybe it's just on my phone:

When recording video on my S10e, and then taking a picture during the recording, the playback has a terrible jump/stutter at the moments when the picture was taken during the video recording. Has anybody else seen this problem?

Thanks in advance.

(PS: I was able to test this on a coworkers S10+, and there is a very slight stutter, but nothing as bad as what I see on my S10e. Other than this issue, I love the phone and it has performed beautifully.)

Re: S10e video recording issue?

Just tested on my 10e and I can confirm the same thing as you. It's like it skips a frame in the video where the pictures are taken.

Re: S10e video recording issue?

Thanks for confirming this. I should add that I have the Google GCam port installed on my S10e, and it does not have this problem with shooting videos, so the problem seems to be within the native Samsung camera app.

What I find strange though, is that the S10+ does not have as bad a stuttering issue as what I see on my S10e, even though the hardware and firmware on the entire S10 series are nearly identical, from what I have read.

Re: S10e video recording issue?

I've seen this happen once or twice but never had the video itself be affected by this. Video played out perfectly fine no skipped frames. Could be a memory hog issue that could be fixed with a software update

Ok, now I know what is happening.

If the video camera setting is not set to 60 fps, then there is massive stuttering at moments where the picture was taken during the recording. I was trying to save space earlier and forgot to put my vdieo setting back to 60 fps, for either 1080p or 4k.

At 60 fps, the video is now super smooth when taking pictures during recording. Not even a single hiccup... almost identical to a video where no pictures were taken during the recording. This is awesome performance.

I suppose this does make sense. At 30 fps, it's not fast enough to mask the stuttering effects of the picture taking. At 60 fps, it's fast enough to cover it up.

@jlin858,

Thank you for posting a solution to this issue! But, I wish I would have seen this post a couple of weeks ago! This issue has ruined a few important videos that I shot the past two weekends! I hope that Samsung can come up with a fix for this issue when taking pictures while recording videos at 30 fps - especially since 30 fps was the default setting on my S10+.
