Hello all. My mother is giving me her AT&T S10e due to having a broken back camera. She got it for free, so she doesn't really want to pay for it I would assume. I would gladly take it off her hands and use it as a backup device for the SD card and headphone jack! My primary device is the S21U. Makes me wonder though, has anyone here had issues with the back camera breaking? Its literally shattered on her device. She said she had woke up one day and it was broken. I suspect another element there somewhere lol But that's besides the point.

I wonder how much it would cost to fix an issue like this. I may look into fixing it at some point just for piece of mind.

I had an S10+, not an S10e. However, the camera design is similar on both phones, just that the camera module is larger on the S10+. I never had any damage on my S10+ camera, but I always kept it in a case, so the camera module was never touching the surface of a table, desk or other hard surface. My S10+ looked flawless when I traded it in to Samsung for the S22 Ultra.

Does she live in an area where there's extreme cold? The sudden shift from very cold temps to warm indoor temps can sometimes cause too much stress on the glass and cause it to shatter. I think that was happening to some Pixel 7 phones.

If you can try getting a quote from Samsung experience Shop if you have one near you , ifixit is certified also but some people have 50/50 experience with them .

Sort of? She lives in a pretty rural area where they do get a bit more extreme weather than we do.

Yeah, my experiences with them have been garbage.

So... I finally got ahold of said device. It is now in my clutches. It's been awesome to use it for the headphone jack and as a backup device. This is what the camera looks like. Evidently it can be pretty easily repaired with a kit from Amazon.

That does look like a pretty simple fix. It would be similar to putting a glass screen protector over a camera lens with that simple shaped glass. Just be sure to remove the broken glass first, and be careful if any liquid glue is involved, you don't want to get any on the camera lens or in the mechanism.

Yeah... I am considering trying to fix up the camera on this device since Samsung will give me 360 dollars for it towards a refurbished S22u. That's pretty darn good.

Ubreakifix wants 110 dollars to fix it... I don't think so.
