S20 FE, who's thinking about it?

I'm getting used to the display. I think, just like getting new headphones or glasses, you just need to time to adjust.

Reviewers have been raving about the display. Guess it's just too good for my eyes. Colors are different than what I was used to, but maybe for the better. When you use the same display for 3.5 years any differences come as a shock, I guess.

Most definitely.. I put this up next to my iPhone Max and of course you see difference but I'm one my eyes adjust as I use a phone..

I'm not concerned with unlocking this phone. Since it was free for me, I don't think it's gonna be much of a priority for me to sell on ebay as afree phone. If I decide to sell it, I'll just list it as a T-Mobile phone. There are enough T-Mobile users out there now that I still think the phone will be worth it to someone.
I also don't care if its carrier locked now UNLESS that keeps me from flashing the unlocked version from Samsung. It appears that T-Mobile may have removed a feature of the unlocked phones and I may want to re-flash it for that reason. I'm hoping carrier lock isn't affected by or doesn't prevent a re-flash.

I sure wouldn't pay much for any carrier locked phone since I would have no way of knowing if the original owner still owes on it. If the original owner stops paying after selling the phone, the carrier is likely to deactivate it.

Don't think the carrier would deactivate it since they require signing an agreement that they can charge you whatever remains on the cost of the phone. Also, if they deactivate it, they just put themselves into a position where they will have to answer to the new owner.

What feature have they removed?

What feature have they removed?
1.HD+ Voice
2.Samsung RCS messager cooked in T-mobile firmware ( Dont work like Google rcs, cross carriers)
3. U.S Cellular Roaming
4. SA 5G( waiting for Samsung to update in their unlocked firmware.)

If you're type of user that wanted all T-mobile features then stay with Carriers firmware. I'm all unlocked firmware without the carrier chick soup.

Imagine carriers can modify iOS software lol.

OK there is a disconnect here. When the statement "it appears that T-Mobile may have removed a feature of the unlocked phones," I asked what feature. I was then pointed to a link which talks about NOT the unlocked version missing a feature (call recording), but the T-MOBILE version missing it.
Now I see another post mentioning several things such as HD+ Voice (among others) that they have removed.
1 - I have an unlocked Pixel 3a on T-Mobile and can assure everyone that HD+ Voice is indeed present. Why would it be removed from an unlocked Samsung but not an unlocked Pixel?
2 - US Cellular roaming? Why on earth would T-Mobile want to take this away from their users thus hurting their coverage depending on what phone is being used?

I can see T-Mobile ADDING features to their version of the phones, but how on earth do they have access to Samsung phones that are not even sold to them?
I am beginning to take this talk of features being removed with a grain of salt.

With the original question it's not Tmobile removing the call recording. It's not on any US models.

It's because the sim that's inserted in samsung phone dictates what goes on or off the phone. It configures to that Carrier.

OK so one of you is saying it's not in the US, the other is saying T-Mobile is controlling the phone's features in the SIM card.
I can accept the first explanation being the phone call recording in the USA is illegal unless both parties are aware of and approve it, but if the second were true, then why does my SIM allow HD+ voice in my factory unlocked Pixel 3a?

I have my pixel 4xl and yes it's enabled hd but we are talking 2 different manufacturers how they let things go about , I have WiFi calling on my pixel 4xl with my Att sim , on samsung unlocked it's not there . Same I get visual voice assistant in my Google pixel 4xl dialer with T-Mobile SIM , once I insert my Att it's not available.

OK. Thanks. Not sure why a carrier wouldn't allow features like these on one manufacturer's phone but allow it on another's but ok.

Keep asking. The truth is out there.

p.s. call recording is NOT illegal in the US many states allow any participants in a call to record the call. I think all states allow recording if all parties agree. I guarantee you any of those laws only exist because some lawmaker (or a major donor) was horrified when another lawmaker (or donor) went to jail because someone recorded them taking a bribe or something. LoL

And if carriers are disabling call recording its because their legal department decided getting subpoenaed as a witness in even one case would cost more than a few lost sales from not having the feature.

Obviously, the best way would be for someone who actually has access to VZW 5G to see if they can use it on the unlocked variant of the phone. No better test than that.

Although, if it's really in the actual model number, I'd say it better work on VZW 5G.

Circling back to this.

Has anyone on Verizon with the unlocked S20 FE variant been able to access VZW mmWave (Ultra Wideband) 5G?

There are many reports that I am seeing of users complaining about screen issues...anything from bad sensitivity to touches to random characters appearing in places.
Has anyone here with this phone had any issues so far? When I first got mine, I immediately switched from the Samsung to the Google keyboard because typing with the Samsung keyboard was a mess. It was almost impossible to type correct spelling of words or even having the correct words appear at all. Since I changed to the Google Gboard I have had no issues at all.

Anyone having issues? I wonder if there is a bug in the Samsung Keyboard and that's what a lot of the complaints are about.

I use SwiftKey so I can't comment on the Samsung keyboard, but I have thought that the screen is a little less than responsive to touches at times. I don't use a screen protector and I did toggle the sensitivity setting and didn't really notice a difference.
