Android Central Question

month ago i transferred photos from my S21 ultra to my computer via USB cable. Now camera folder on computer is empty with thousands of photos on the phone. I bought this phone because of great camera but it is real nuissance i am dealing with, disappointed with Samsung not addressing this issue

It could be user error here , what were the steps you used to try to transfer? I could give you few other options.
*back up to Smart Switch on pc
* Google photos/drive back them up on your device then log in same account on pc.
*drop box then transfer on computer

I'll leave a Link to register so you can communicate here, As a guest account you can only post questions but can't reply

Welcome to Android Central! Samsung addressed the issue by offering the means to upload your photos to cloud storage (first Samsung Cloud, and now OneDrive). You also have the option of uploading to your Google Photos in the cloud.

If you connected your phone to your PC via USB and copied over a gigantic folder with thousands of photos, that can lead to data errors and data loss. It's not a good idea to transfer over a huge amount of data via USB in one go -- instead, break it up into smaller chunks. This has been a limitation for as long as I can remember -- I don't think it's a Samsung issue.
