I have held off purchasing a new S22 because I keep reading that Android Auto will not work on the S22/Android 12. Android Auto is one of the key apps that I rely on heavily. Can anyone confirm that it doesn't work and/or that Android Auto is being discontinued on Android 12?

I also keep reading that Android Auto will be replaced by Google Assistant Driving Mode, but the details are sparse. In particular, my question is that does this Google Assistant Driving Mode work with my car's (2019 Honda Insight) 7.4 inch touchscreen head unit? Can the Google Assistant Driving Mode map be shown on my head unit, or is it entirely limited to the phone screen? If it can be shown on the head unit, is the map and application expanded for the Landscape mode of the head unit screen, or does it fit a portrait mode view of the map onto the head unit screen with lots of blank space?

Android Auto works just fine with the S22 series. I have it and use it in two vehicles, a 2019 Chevy and a 2021 Volvo XC60. Both vehicles have Android Auto installed.

Well thank you all, that's very re-assuring. So, have I misunderstood what I was reading, I thought I read that Android Auto will be discontinued with Android 12.

I don't have my S22 ultra yet but my note20 ultra on Android 12 and my android auto works fine with my 2020 jeep grand Cherokee

No, I think what they're doing is just shutting down the actual app on your phone, but you'll still be able to use Android Auto featured in the car.

How does that work? Android Auto in the car, but not on the phone? What would be the point?

It seems to me that they want to move everyone to just use Maps and Google Assistant on the actual phone. You used to be able to pull up Android Auto on your phone and use it without connecting to a car screen. I see Android Auto on my phone under the apps menu, but I don't see a way to open it like I used to. It doesn't have an icon, so it seems like they just made it into a system app that still allows you to use Android Auto on a car nav screen.

While the app isn't in the app drawer any longer, you can still access AA settings without connecting to a vehicle by looking under Settings>Advanced Features

Does anyone have any issues with the sound going out for a few seconds randomly? I've tried different cables and different phones; but it's always the same. Starting to think that it's the USB port in my car. I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra by the way.

All of this is great information, but it still doesn't address what I have read, that Android Auto will be discontinued.

So my question remains ... what happens then? Maybe no one has addressed this specifically because no one knows. I get the impression from reading about a dozen articles on-line that details about using a car head unit have not been made public, because I can't find any article anywhere that addresses this.

Like Holz75 said, they are taking it away on the phone in standalone mode. You will still be able to use it when connected to a head unit that supports it. And you will only be able to use it then.
