Had the s22 previously, I always liked the galaxy line. But, now I have 23 ultra that I love! I have glas screen protection n high quality case for protection! I have never dropped it or got it wet. Had it for about half year at least I think. Bad with time. I'm seeing off n on n it getting worse, ghosting or screen burn on top half of my screen. I try to screenshot n screen record but it doesn't show in it for some reason. There like streaking coming off the app icons. Phone has got pretty hot couple times in past. But this problem is happening now, that was quite awhile ago. And top all off, warranty passed n no insurance for phone. I'm still paying on it. This first time I ever had this problem in my whole life. If it doesn't stay on screen when looking at screenshot n video record, then maybe it in the hardware behind screen. It does it more when screen get little warm more , but it happening off n on, it doesn't stay fully like actual screen burn. I can't afford pay 2-300 for screen replacement.. Hate not being able use it like used to. Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central forums. I cannot think of any way you could see ghosting or true screen burn in a screenshot. It's not actually taking a photo of the screen it is capturing what the software says is being displayed. So if the software says this is blurry or doubled then that would show up in the screenshot, but if the software says this is pristine and sharp as a tack, then the image is sharp as a tack.

Anyway, as to your issue. Have you considered getting insurance now? It's been a while since I've bought a device that I didn't insure immediately but it used to be that you could buy insurance anytime. And not that I'm advocating being dishonest or scheming the system but if the issue isn't all of the time getting insurance now before and in case it becomes much worse will at least protect your investment down the road. You don't have to get insurance from your carrier, Best Buy has plans, Asurion offers plans online, and there are others, if you thought you couldn't get insurance because your carrier says XYZ. I guess it will depend on where you get insurance on how much it will save you. because some insurance may have co-pays, which can be scaled based on the age of the device. And because you're getting insurance after the purchase there may be other restrictions, like not being able to file claims for 3 or 4 weeks... or something.

As far as other options, having a payment on the phone is seriously restricting your options. Can't sell and replace it, or use it for a trade in on something new.

Let's talk about the phone getting hot though. Are you using it while it's charging? Do you have a lot of apps open in the background all of the time? Are you using any kind of "saver" apps? Memory saver, data saver, anti-virus, malware, apps? How often are you restarting your phone? Do you restart on a schedule or regularly? Are you doing anything to keep the clutter down, clearing caches, deleting old messages, backing up media to a cloud and removing images from your device?

If overheating is affecting this perhaps we can help you have better control by offering advice to help phone performance.

I do everything, every time I get new phone. I run mid setting for battery saving n cooling efficiency. I always use dark mode. I pay for avg cleaner n anti-virus n use malwarebytes for malware. Every night schedule to restart phone automatically. I use mid fhd setting on display quality. It doesn't make sense. I do everything so that phone runs most efficient n without any heating or clutter or any those problems. Only time I get issue were it gets warm more than natural charging is when I'm on zoom call, and or charging phone too. Also, there was one day I use phone briefly during summertime n it got pretty warm/almost hot n i immediately removed from direct sunlight n let cool. Besides that, I baby this thing to death. When I get any new phone, I research and do all the settings for max battery n cooling efficiency. Not sure why it's coming n going the streaking/screen burn affect. Sometimes atnt has open enrollment on there plan, I'm just past warranty n being able to get samsung care plus plan. I sign up for all state plan for phone, like 149 deductible if used. But I need see about if it counts or any issue since I don't actually own the phone technically. I'm in contract with atnt. Paying installment on it. One lesson learned, I will be paying for insurance on my phone for sure next time!!! Wish I new how install n do myself, but not sure what the issue is. Cause it presents as screen burn, but when I do *#0*# n look at the blue, red, green screens, i see no discoloration n no damage pixels, so I'm not sure what issue is. Not sure why the screenshot or vid won't pic up the issue.

I think you misunderstood my questions about the anti-virus as being a pro statement. It's actually a con statement. These unnecessary antivirus apps are probably the root of your overheating issue. Most antivirus apps just use your resources, battery, RAM, ROM, and in exchange they drain your bank account and falsely identify system apps or innocent apps as problems. Disable or uninstall your antivirus app and see if your overheating issue clears up. I would go into how Android is so unlikely to get an actual virus that in all of my time here at AC, I've never seen anyone here that had a virus or malware.

I've seen at least a couple of articles and discussions about charging and using the phone. Most say it isn't bad for the battery but nearly all admit that it can cause overheating. Hot is bad for batteries. If you know that combination causes excess heat, I would recommend avoiding that if you plan to keep this device for more than 2 or 3 years as heat will shorten your battery life, as in the number of years it will be good, not how long it will last through the day.

Are you saying that you have some kind of renter's or homeowner's insurance on your phone? I don't think those will cover phone repair claims, but it might worth looking into. It's just something I've never heard of. Even though AT&T may want to protect their investment since you're in contract with them I doubt they will help any repairs. I did some quick checks on plans I'm aware of and they say you have to enroll within 60 days of purchase. Asurion, BestBuy and Samsung Care. If that's the industry standard you might be out of luck.

As for what you're seeing it is a physical thing. I don't know how to explain it differently than I did but, let's say your screen was broken and wouldn't light up at all, like it is totally broken. If you took a screenshot it would still show everything just like if the screen worked, because it isn't taking a picture of the screen. There isn't a camera behind the screen taking the screenshot. It's all software. The software says your wallpaper is showing so it appears in the screenshot. So when you're seeing these ghost images, they are physical things and not being generated by the software and therefore cannot be in the picture.

Avoid making your phone hot. Best wishes.

That makes sense now on the screenshot not picking it up. Thanks. I stop those antique n all after using it so it not staying running in background. I limit the background processes. Allstate insurance has phone insurance coverage, even out warranty. Says there no wait period for it n covers mostly everything. We will see. Lot great summer reviews. Ty for your help n time n advice man!

Ps, phone just over year old. I'll keep that in mind about the antivirus thing. What about cache n phone cleaning? I don't think the installed system one does that great job.

Honestly if you simply restart your phone every week or so that will keep up on your caches for the most part automatically. Part of the rebooting process is to clear the cache for most apps and the device. It also stops processes that may be looping, and restarts processes that may have stopped. Regular reboots are just healthy for your device.
