Can you partition the drive for photos and documents to keep them permanently in the even you need to reset the phone or is external backup the only option?

Anyone have recommendations for a fast portable drive. Inexpensive and sexy too. Is the default Samsung backup good or should I use an app? Never had experience trying to restore a backup.

Honestly, if you have an office.com account (6.99/mo personal | $9.99/mo family (2-6 members)) you get 1TB of OneDrive space and Samsung has partnered with MSFT to make photo/video backups seamless and easy. This is what I use.

However, there are times I want a local backup and the drive I use for this is: SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD

Just plug into USB-C port and off you go. I also have one of these so I can transfer data externally and still have power: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096DBNNPH

I've got the same drive as Talderon, and would also recommend it. I'm not sure if it's "sexy"...I only like it as a friend and am not sexually attracted to it, but you may feel differently about your own.

For full backups, stick to smartswitch. Unless yyou're rooted, you can't get the same system level access with a third party app.

Oh, and one more thing to circle back on with the OP's questions. No, with Stock you really can NOT re-partition the storage anyway you like because you are not rooted. Even with Root, not sure it will help.

Phones are not like PC's in this way. They slice and dice your storage up they way they want/need and that is what you are stuck with. Since SD Cards are no longer the norm, you will need to use a Cloud or Drive solution as mentioned above.

Just wondering if anyone has used a smartswitch backup if you had to do a reset? I mean Taking the data off a external drive to get it back on the phone.
