HI,

I apologize if this is a duplicate thread or ask, but I couldn't find any info, therefore asking this question here.

I have S24 Ultra SM-S928U1 XAA, bought in USA. I used the CSC samfw site but it failed to do so, it says OK but after reboot nothing is changed.

Can I use Odin to flash INS INDIA region Firmware? will that work, will there be any issues?

Thank you

Welcome to Android Central forums. I did a quick internet search and Gemini says,

You cannot directly update a US model Samsung phone with firmware designed for India, as they are different regions and variants. You would need to change the CSC (Country Specific Code) to match the Indian firmware, which might affect OTA updates and potentially require rooting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Here's a more detailed explanation: [1, 2, 3, 6]

  • Firmware Region Specific: Samsung phones are released with firmware tailored to specific regions or countries, and these firmwares are not interchangeable. [1, 2, 3, 6]
  • CSC (Country Specific Code): The CSC code determines which region's firmware and features your phone receives. Changing the CSC might be necessary to receive updates for a different region. [2, 3, 4]
  • Flashing Firmware: You can't simply flash a US model Samsung phone with Indian firmware without potentially bricking the device or causing compatibility issues. [1, 2, 3, 7]
  • Rooting and Customization: Rooting your phone allows for more flexibility, including changing the CSC and potentially installing custom firmware, but it also voids the warranty. [1, 2, 4]
  • Potential Issues: Flashing a firmware from a different region can lead to issues with OTA updates, network bands, and other features. [2, 3, 8]
  • SamFW FRP Tool: Some tools, like SamFW FRP Tool, can potentially change the CSC without flashing firmware, but this might still cause issues with updates. [3, 9]
  • Network Band Compatibility: Ensure the US model Samsung phone supports the network bands used by Indian telecom operators. [10, 11]
It sounds like this was what you were trying. I have to be honest I don't know that much about this particular type of thing but bullet point 3 says it may not be possible or it at least comes with risk. Next I asked if, anyone has successfully updated a US model device to Indian firmware and found this thread at XDA, which my next sufggestion was going to be to visit XDA. They talk about rooting and ROMs but also quite a bit about modifying and sideloading, which this feels like it should fit into one of those categories. Anyway, you can find the thread that appears to claim success here.
