S25 - Google Play - Call issues?

Hi,

I merely intended to verify an unusual phenomenon I had been experiencing; however, it resolved spontaneously, either coincidentally or perhaps only subjectively.

I purchased a Galaxy S25 SM-S931B in July 2025. From the outset, I had atypical impressions regarding radio performance, which I validated through comparative testing against a Motorola device and my previous Nokia 8. Specifically, I observed that the Galaxy S25 exhibits a pronounced signal attenuation when positioned adjacent to the head, resulting in a measurable degradation of received signal strength.
Consequently, I intermittently experienced symptoms consistent with uplink voice interruption as perceived by the remote party. The issue was not persistent but appeared sporadically, particularly under conditions where the serving base station may have been moderately loaded. Comparable Galaxy S25 units used by acquaintances did not appear to exhibit similar behavior. Testing with older Samsung models did not reproduce these symptoms.

The serving BTS is located in close proximity. When the device is not positioned near the head, LTE Band 20 (800 MHz) RSRP typically ranges between –93 and –106 dBm. When held against the ear, the reported RSRP frequently drops to approximately –108 to –115 dBm, depending on time of day and propagation conditions. Notably, several interlocutors operating identical handset models under similar network conditions often reported inferior signal metrics yet did not experience comparable uplink audio degradation.

This leads to the central question: recently, I attempted to restore partial service integrity on the S25 due to non-functional RCS. After resolving the RCS issue, I additionally cleared Google Play Services. The question is whether Google Play Services could, at a system level, have interfered in a manner sufficient to influence call behavior under conditions of reduced RSRP??

The issues appeared to cease at the moment basic service integrity was restored and, most notably, after clearing Google Play Services. I should also add that the device is rooted.
