s3. apps keeps stopping. Needs Factory Reset. Backing Up

2 questions.

I would like to back my S3 up. I downloaded Kies. It said my model is not supported so I downloaded Smart Switch and backed up my data. I can't find a way of looking at this data on my computer.

If I restore the data, after doing a factory reset, will I just put all the faults back onto my phone?

Basically, I would like to reset my phone back to the factory settings but re-install some of the information, like contacts etc., without re-corrupting the phone.

I would also like to keep access to my texts, without re-installing them.

Further thinking. dangerous I know.

I would like to backup the whole phone, do a factory reset, put the contacts back on the phone and keep everything else on my computer and be able to access it.

I can't use Kies

I have installed Smart Switch but can only re-install complete sections of data, not view them on my computer.

Can someone please suggest how do achieve this.
