So I just woke to my phone dead while plugged in, weirdly only giving vibration feedback with a black screen. I had it plugged in charging before I went to sleep and when I waked its still plugged in dead. I had to swap the battery and stay charging it again, thank the heavens it turned on because km going hiking in an hour! Zoingggg! Hm did it overwhelm itself for being at 100% so long or something? I've been noticing increased lagginess yesterday, especially in the stocked messaging....So much where at a time only an inch of the display loaded, but then the rest.

No the phone will cycle itself if it stays at 100% for an extended period of time, the phone shouldn't shut off. The only reason that I can see why it would shut down is that something was running on the phone that was pulling more juice from the phone than it was getting in from the charger. Are you using the stock charger that came with the phone and the stock cable? If not try that and see if it happens again. If you where using the stock accessories then see what you have running before you go to bed. Some applications can pull a massive amount of power and that could be your issue.

Hmm yeah I'm using the stock charger...I did notice the phone was pretty hot before going to sleep as well. The one thing I see consuming a bit of battery is something called Samsungmaps though I was using my gps quite a bit yesterday of that's in name of Google maps. Here's a screenshot.

another strange thing I just noticed it's that it says it was connected to wifi for a period of time, even though I don't have WiFi. Weird.

Okay next time try this. Make sure your WiFi is off, turn off your GPS and if possible make sure to close out of and stop Samsung Maps from running. I would recommend that you clear your RAM just to be on the safe side. If your phone was very hot that means something was still running that was pulling a lot of power. Download an app as well called CPUSpy. This will give you a breakdown of what CPU states your phone is running over a period of time. Overnight the majority of your time should be in Deep Sleep. If its not, then there is a problem with one of you apps constantly running and not letting your phone sleep.

Go to settings - battery. There you will see a breakdown of what is taking up juice. If the screen is >70%, change the timeout to 30 seconds and change brightness to automatic. If this is not a fix, try a new charger with higher output - 5.0V/2.0A
