S3 battery drain after last update

I've been getting incredible battery life. Right now I'm at 71 percent with a little over 19 hours of stand by with a little over an hour of screen time.

Disabled all bloatware and Google apps I don't use. Sync turned off. Auto brightness on.

Interesting .... Mine has been doing this horribly last few weeks (maybe longer) but i literally have not touched my phone was on full charge this morning and at 2pm its already dead

I captured this screen shot before it died - seems tmobile is the resource hog

that checkbox was on so will report tomorrow if I continue to have issues

Happens to me also. After the JB update, I noticed the battery dies a lot quicker than it did with ICS. It also won't let me charge the phone whether I'm on a call or playing a game, especially when the battery percentage is below 40-50% or so. Gets annoying..

I just tried your suggestion.. Go to Menu - Backup and Reset - Collect Diagnostics - Uncheck Allow Diagnostics. will update if it helped of not.

I see folks posting regarding T-Mobile, but this is the Verizon forum and we don't have the "collect diagnostics" in our Backup and Reset settings (at least mine doesn't).

You need to go to your own forum. You're giving information that is irrelevant to those of use on Verizon.

My phone was off the charger at 4:30am and lasted until 9pm; with intermittent airplane mode, streaming data and screen time. I am fine with that.

I'd suggest looking at these apps for optimizing battery use:

1. BetterBatteryStats: Look at what percentage of the time that your phone is in deep sleep state (not awake, it should be very high when your phone is idle). Then see what's keeping it awake (using battery when idle) so you can intelligently improve your battery usage.

2. Greenify: If your phone is rooted or not, you can have apps hibernate instead of running in the background for those apps where that makes sense. If your phone is rooted you can do more, but this app is still very useful if your phone is not rooted. This can save a lot of battery if used intelligently:

[APP][3.1+] Greenify *ROOT* v2.0 beta 5 (Updated on Dec.21) - xda-developers

Mine is always dying fast. I carry extra batteries, but when 2 wont get me through an entire day, something is wrong.
I just purchased a Hyperion 7000 mh battery this morning on ebay. Hopefully it will get me through a day without any worries.

WOW, I purchased this battery, and got 5 DAYS out of it. IM IMPRESSED.

My update is about 30+ hours old. No issues yet with my Battery Life... At least nothing that I have yet noticed, and I am one of those weenies that really pays attention to it. I'll repost in a few days after playing with it more but so far, so good. knock knock...

I have a galaxy s5 but the same battery issues. I did the factory pain in the **** big time!! Nothing changed I saw the same message that my battery was being drained because of the system Application Manager. I followed your steps couldn't believe it was that easy. I'm hoping this will do the trick thank you :)

I have a galaxy s5 through T Mobile and I followed the steps.I did have collect diagnostics in my backup and reset settings it took me a bit to find it but thankfully it worked! I'm very new to the site I didn't realize that was posting in the wrong forum :)
