S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car

I had that problem as well. I had to go into car settings and clear out the connections. According to the manual it would only store 4 connected phones. I only used my Droid X, but I am guessing my flashoholic history may have eaten a few slots (or the I may have forgotten one, or some other odd scenario...).

have a 2012 maxima...i saw a few maxima owners were having this issue...any luck fixing?

No. Had to give up music streaming in order to get phone to connect automatically. In fairness to Nissan, I have the same issue with my wife's 2010 GTI.

Something is definitely off with the bluetooth on this phone.

is there anyway to contact Samsung in regards, anyone who would care at least.?

I wish i had an answer for you but it sounds like you have a defective unit. I use jays freedom. Bluetooth head phones at the gym and they pair as soon as i turn them on. I also drive a 2012 gti and it pairs as soon as i turn the car on and the phone book syncs and media plays without any problems. You should exchange your phone it sounds like you have a faulty Bluetooth radio. I am on Verizon as well.

Has tried pairing with an aftermarket radio like Kenwood alpine or pioneer?

A week later trying to pair with my car (CR-V) and I'm finding it is very erratic. Sometimes it will pair with phone and media correctly... most times it will not. Sometimes it pairs up and then disconnects a minute later. Sometimes it just pairs up with media. Sometimes it pairs up with both media and phone unchecked. It does not disconnect when I manually pair it though.

Another poorly designed behavior is that if I'm listening to Pandora or another media player on my phone and I turn the car off... the phone starts playing it over the phone speaker instead of stopping. That's just irritating.

I have a BMW and a Garmin Zumo. Seems OK to the BMW (get in, start the car, 15 seconds later, it connects). The Zumo is hit and miss, but if I turn the BT off and on before I start my bike, it connects fine every time.

I think it's a s/w problem. My phone is an unlocked UK version (in blue if anyone cares)

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but today I turned on location services for the first time to test out GPS, and this was the first time that I had to manually connect the bluetooth to the stereo. All other times (since first pairing it) it has connected automatically. Could that be affecting it? I'm on Verizon.

Having the same issues here and wondered if anyone knew how to delete the stuff you connected to in the past from the memory? Like not just unpair it, that is simple...but for me it always shows everything I ever connected to below and Im wondering if that is somehow causing a conflict?

I have the same problem. There are two apps in the market for "ICS Bluetooth mono". Both are a buck and hopefully one of them will work. I have to be able to listen to Audible in my car or I will go nuts.

sent from my Galaxy S3.

Same problem with my Verizon S3 on a 2011 Kia Sorento. My Droid-X was perfect and auto connected without issue. I haven't really done much troubleshooting yet.

I tried having the bluetooth on before starting the car and that seems to work. No idea what's going on. But mine just isn't the car. I have to manually connect to just about all my paired devices.

I would expect the various Head Units handle BT differently. Mine is a late model Infiniti and the thing takes two connections to make it hold everytime. I don't have to do anything but it connects, disconnects, then re-connects, and then holds the connection. Everyone seems to be having different results and we should all be using the same phone so...

Swapped my Verizon S3 for a new one and it behaves the exact same way. I am also unable to download the phone book to the car either. Might be part of the problem. VZW actually told me they only guarantee the Bluetooth devices they sell will pair with the S3 and since they did not sell me the car they are not responsible.

I have a 2012 vw gti and my s3pairs automatically without any problems. Music plays fine, navigation, and phone work very well. In fact better and more reliability than my old iphone 4 and RAZR Maxx. The iphone would pair the first time getting into the car but if i turned the car off fir instance to get fuel i eould havr to turn bluetooth off on the phone and then back on for it to resume playing through the car speakers. My Razr was far more reliable from a connection standpoint but it would click and pop when streaming music very annoying. Plus the insanely loud disconnect tone when ending a call really pissed me off. My s3 on the other hand connects stays connected and sounds great to my ear the bt music sounds better than the aux connection i have had numerous people agree when i ask for their opinions.

As far as the phone book is concerned you must accept the notification on your phone when pairing your phone to the car to upload your phone book and to do so for future connections. I neglected to do this when pairing my razr and i had to unpair and repair my phone and accept the notification before my phone book would sync. I remembered with my s3 so no problems this time.

I wish I had a solution for you all I can suggest is unpair and try again. Or perhaps check your car owners manual for the pairing procedure to make sure that there is not something specific to your car that you are over looking.
