Might not be a big deal...while I LOVE this watch, I noticed compared to my S2 Classic 4G...the bezel is much more prone to scratching.

It seems the S2 is ceramic vs the matte metal finish on the S3...

Be careful out there guys!

I've already got 2 marks that have scratched off the matte bezel finish on mine. Not happy at all :'(

Just got off the phone with AT&T CS and they are sending me out a new Frontier.
Not a scratch or mark on it other than the 2 spots on the bezel

I have a little scratch too and it's bugging the crap out of me. Verydisappointing to say the least 😣1480380466503.jpg

Dang, scratches? Man, that may make it an auto fail... So many of these cool new devices have like one or two fatal flaws that you'd think would have been fixed before release...

Thx for the heads up.

I can say with relative confidence (since I have had it less than a week) that the S3 Classic does not have this issue or I have not bumped it hard enough yet.

I got mine thru AT&T and they've already shipped out a new replacement, and even though I am skeptical that it will hold up any better, I will give it a shot. If it doesn't I am still within my return window and will return it for a refund

Well this might have sold me on the classic. I have had multiple Samsung watches, Gear 2, Gear 3 Neo, and Gear S2 Classic, all have been well made and can take a beating without having marks

I was leaning towards the Frontier, but I don't want to worry scratches

Not only does the Frontier have the Bezel scratch issues but the stainless Steel body also seems to either have a coating on it or mine has some pigmentation issues. Having a nightmare trying to get it replaced with Samsung Australia...

Hi,
I got my frontier on monday and the bezel has already several marks...
I have not hit it anywhere..IMG_0206.jpg

Does anyone make a shield that has one for the screen and one for the bezel?
Would clear fingernail polish help or would it eat the coating?

Honestly for a $300 device like this we shouldn't have to Jimmy rig anything. I'm really annoyed. I was all set to buy it, but this scratching issue just keeps coming up and I can't buy a device with such a lame flaw.

I think its just paint or some kind of coating. It scratches even more with a fingernail.

I hate to say it, but this on the back of the Note 7 fiasco has me wondering if Sammys got a QC problem. This watch should have never been released with a flaw like this.

Samsung may single handedly force me back to Apple. As much as I prefer the more intuitive OS of Android, I am missing the polish of Apple.

Are you guys getting actual scratches or is it just some residue that is looking like a scratch? I had a few spots that looked like a scratch on the bezel of my Gear S3 Frontier, but after wiping it with a damp cloth, whatever it was that looked like a few scratches disappeared.

When I have scratched my Gear S2 Classic in the past, I would rub a black sharpie over the scratch, then rub it in with my finger until the black disappeared. It blended in so well I could no longer see the scratch.

This was excellent tip! I just wiped the bezel with Soft cloth and mild soap and the 'marks' disapeared completely. So it was false alarm in my case.

This is good to know, but I wonder how many scratches are like this rather than actual damage.

Watches get battle scars, I have several "real" watches (Not Rolex level) that I spent way more on than the S3 and they all have marks on them. I have found that the black PVD coated watches show the scars the most, but the stainless watches have their fair share of marks as well.

My S2 has it's share of marks on the case and bezel as well, the first ding on every new watch still pisses me off, but I also know that I am going to wear the watch and dings are going to happen.
