I've closed apps and come back the next day and find them all open again. I believe it happens even when I keep the phone on. I do a MyBackup Pro only once a week. How can I keep the apps closed permanently that I don't use? ( I've deleted the ones than let me delete)

You mean disable the bloat? You can do that through the settings> Application Manager and disable the apps you don't need. You can't disable the core apps like Internet and Calculator etc though.

My experience has been that they come back even after I've emptied the cache, unchecked the box that says to keep it up to date etc. I disable the app and it's back, sometimes in 1/2 hour, sometimes the next day. This has been mostly true with Samsung Apps I'm not interested in. But I'm not talking about anything anyone could possibly deem "essential".

I noticed that the window that "allows" you to disable, such as the Travel App also says at the bottom "Launch by default". It sounds like the app will relaunch the first chance it gets. Any idea where the defaults are managed?

To my knowledge the apps you installed you can uninstall and the ones that came with the phone you can just disable them if you don't need them through the application manager. Just make sure you don't mess with the ones that have the little droid icon which are essential to the functioning of the phone.
