S4 Shuts Down Frequently

My wife's S4 becomes overly warm and shuts down frequently during the day. It often indicates a daily data download of a half gig despite being on wifi. I can't find any evidence of any app running that would cause this to occur. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Does she have an S4 Active or the regular S4? You're in the Active forum, which probably doesn't get as much traffic as the main S4 forum, so if it isn't an Active, I could move this thread to the main S4 forum.

To see what is using data, go to Settings>Data Usage. I would also see if the problem persists in Safe Mode, which can tell you if it's being caused by an app you installed, or by the system. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-27781. mine was acting up like that before but when I reinstalled the stock rom through odin it never happened again.
