S5 - to upgrade or not to upgrade?

I've been using the GS5 on T-Mobile for almost a year now and have been very happy with it. No major issues at all. I do sometimes like to get the latest phones though, especially when the one you have is a few generations behind. My S5 still does work flawlessly though. Love the screen on it. It's very clear and sharp, especially when watching videos on youtube. Some of the latest devices I think are great but not really hugely impressed with to go out and spend another 700 dollars on them. I do like the Note 5.

What do you guys think? Is anyone else not jumping on the bandwagon to get the latest S7 or other devices?

I wouldn't: many new devices don't have both a removable band and sd card capabilities.

My S5 from Verizon is running great. Have it for almost 2 years now. No issues and I still love it! Will stay with my S5 for a while yet.

Yes this is one thing I am definitely not happy about in the least bit. The battery life on the S5 isn't anything to ride home about, but at least I have options. I was thinking about purchasing the Zerolemon 8500 MAH battery case. Used to have one for my S3. Was amazing, used to last for days.

The one thing that irks me about my s5 is the poor os updates and all the bloat ware. I love the features of the s5, and the s7 has most of what I'd like to see (waterproof, dustproof, SD card, durability ), but the s5 is the last samsung I will own, unless they bring out a "pure" Android experience. I'm looking really hard at the Moto x pure, but am concerned it won't be as durable as my s5...

If you are on either of the 2 heavily modified, carrier branded phones for either AT&T or Verizon, you will get the bloatware and poor updates on a wide range of phones that they offer. The answer is to switch your phone to another carrier or an unbranded version, (mine has had 8 updates in the last year and minimal bloatware), rather than blaming Samsung for these carriers cloneware. I have the unmodified S5 without any carrier and the bloatware is there. (chat on, flipboard, and the newly added smart manager etc) and it's been more than 6 months that my XSG device hasn't recieved any updates.
My next phone would probably be a Nexus

As long as I can remember, the United Arab Emirates has always been last to issue updates. Personally, I blame their telecommunications authority, who have to O.K. these updates and in particular, NESA, (National Electronic Security Authority).

It could be worse, the UAE is currently on Android 5.0, changelist #5640614 and Verizon, who haven't had an update in changelist for a year, is only on #4782027.

I'm with you. My S5 is perfect and I have a thicker extended battery so I get way better battery life. I don't take a lot of pics but my S5 takes excellent pics and videos anyway. I still have an SD card and the new S7 is running micro USB just like mine. I will consider Note 6 but when I upgrade I like to have even more features than my old phone. At least micro USC and force touch.

I also want to look at the next Nexus for fast direct from Google updates and no bloat.

So, do you have 6.0 on your S5 , with the February security updates? I'd love to have those on my ATT branded phone....
