Hi All,
I'm OS at the moment and have a data only sim card. Through the data usage app I can see Android OS has used more than half of the total data used so far, as background data, even though I have turned on Background Data Restricted, turned off all auto updates stuff etc etc.

Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this from happening.

if you turn on the "Background Data Restricted" then, no update, No messagers . data will be save.

Cheers.
I have the "Background Data Restricted" and no updates from the start. Still have the Android OS sacking background data. :( I have no idea what else to turn off.

Time for some detective work as there are a number of user apps that show up under Android OS as well. Charge you phone to 100% and then put it into Safe Mode for, say, 6-12 hours. See #1.4 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide. Check your data usage under Android OS and see if there is any change. If your usage is the same, it will be down to a system app or setting. If it is less, it will be because of a user app or setting.

Hi Mate,

I was able to boot and quickly jump into the data usage screen and the Android OS was spread out over a few. The main one being Google Play but it's all turned off to wifi only. Any ideas?

Cheers

Was your data usage still as high in Safe Mode or was it less than previously?

As for Google Play Services, you need to wipe the cache and data for it, as per #1.5 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide, then reboot.
