S5 went in the washer for 15 minutes, help?!?

Have had my Galaxy S5 for almost 2 years now and had never in my life put it close to water whatsoever. This morning I threw the sheets in the washer and after 15 minutes of not finding my phone I went to loook in the machine and there it was :'( It was off and when I opened the OtterBox the screen was a bit wet. I took the back lid off and the battery and SIM card out and there was no visible water inside the phone at all. Proceeded to put it in a 2 lbs bag of rice and I plan to leave it there for at least 4 days. Any other things I might be able to do to save my phone? Any help or words of wisdom anyone can offer?

Welcome to Android Central!

thank you. just read the whole thing... so I guess all that's left to do is just leave it and wait for the next 3-4 days

Looks as though you have done all the right things!

What you should NEVER do with a wet/damp phone is turn it on... that's like turning on any other piece of wet electrical equipment.... it will fry it!

Also, Never, ever, use a hairdryer on a wet/damp phone as this has the effect of driving the moisture further into the handset areas that may have previously been dry.

Good luck and don't forget to offer up a prayer to the little green Android god before turning it back on.

thanks everyone. yup would never turn on a wet electronic, don't wanna fry it. as soon as I had it in my hands I tore it apart and put all the pieces in 2 lbs of rice. will report back in 3 days to tell you all if the poor phone made it.
