S6 Edge won't charge wirelessly until unlocked

I try for a long time to position my phone just right on the wireless charging pad to no avail. It won't charge.

Then I try turning the screen on. Still nothing.

The I swipe to unlock, and charging begins immediately.

So weird. Anyone ever seen this? Or have any idea why it would happen?
