S6 & Moto 360 - messages not notifying on watch

Just to recap, after setting up my phone earlier, I then tried to pair my 360 with the S6. After that didn't work, I decided to factory reset the 360, then pair the watch again. It connected successfully, then began to work. I can get messages with the 360, but I don't get vibration notices like I should. The app is not blocked, and swiping down shows the message. WhatsApp, ESPN, and other notifications work as expected. Any suggestions on what to check?

I had a similar issue with my Pebble...was connected but not receiving any notifications. Gave up after 30 minutes of trying. Can't fathom what the issue could be.

Did you make sure notification access is set to on for android wear?

Yes, the Pebble set-up actually takes you there to turn it on. Will give the Pebble another go later today. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Yes, during the set up after I reset the 360 it took me to the screen on my phone to activate notification access.

I've been through everything on the phone and the watch, I am still totally clueless on why Messages is the only app not pushing notifications to my 360. I don't have it blocked, and the watch has notification access on the phone.

FWIW, it's a Verizon S6 using the stock Messages (not Messages+) app.

No issues with my S6 and moto 360, had to factory reset the watch for it to pair. I'm using googles messenger app and all notifications work fine. Just wish S fitness could work with the 360.

I think the issue is with the Samsung Message app. I do not get any notifications from it to my watch (got a S6 Edge) but when I installed Google messenger and started using that it works fine.

I did more troubleshooting today and found that using the stock Messages app, with the phone on vibrate, the watch does NOT vibrate. If the ringer is on, the watch will vibrate and the message will notify properly on the 360.

I'm trying to avoid installing another messaging program. I'm fine with just using the built in program. I did try using Google Messenger, and it worked properly, but I'd like to get the issue resolved.

thats exactly what happens to me
anyone know a fix for when the phone is on vibrate?

This maybe a Samsung feature. Like when I'm listening to music, it was driving me nuts when a message would come through and the music would cut out completely, the phone would chime and the music would come back. I discovered that if you have the handset on vibrate or mute then the during your music it will never cut out or interrupt the song to notify you. Probably the same case here with the 360. I have a 360 and I'll definitely be trying this, I didn't even think of this until I read this post. I have always had issues with the watch and my Note 4. Thought maybe it was some sort of weird glitch. Just gave up. But now I will continue to troubleshoot! Food for thought anyways.

I also found that putting the phone on silent also allows the notifications to work properly on the 360. Vibrate is the only setting that messes this up.

Guys I think I've figured this out!

Okay so my text my messages are set to vibrate only but I only get the vibrate on my watch if I have a ringtone set. If its on silent it won't work.

SOLUTION:
To fix this set your default text messaging app's notification to "default notification sound" and your main notification sound under your phones main settings to "silent" ever since then my watch vibrates and the screen lights up every time!

Have you been able to get through to the Moto360 problem? Im having the same issue with my Galaxy S6Edge and it only shows basic notifications like weather etc... but nothing like facebook, twitter, whatsapp, snapchap, text messages etc.
It sucks because when I had my MotoX2 it was working perfect and now with my Galaxy Im having this issue. Notifications are active and I have reset everything on the watch as well. Any solutions? I checked on youtube and nothing.
HELP!

Just got a Galaxy S6 with work and I have different issue. I have not tried the notifications yet as my sim card is not activated yet so I'll test that later. However, my 360 and S6 are paired correctly. Well, so it seems.

I can't control my music player when my S6 screen is off... it does work when the screen is on though... which defeats the purpose of controlling your music remotely. Could it be because of the fingerprint security that's turned on? Anything else I may be missing?

Never had that issue with my Nexus 7 and never had to dig into the settings to turn on a specific thing to make it work...

I see the commands on my watch, press them and nothing happens. turn on my S6 screen, press the commands on the watch and it works... I4m clueless so far.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi lucianus_luciferus,

Nope, I actually disabled power saving mode to avoid anything restriction like that. App Optimization was turned on though. I disabled it and will try later on to see if it makes any difference.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks!
