S6 or G4?

I actually considered the S6, until I headed over to the S6 section of the forums.

The are soooo many complaints of crappy battery life, overheating, display issues, and screen rotation failure that I ended that quickly. Lol.

Samsung decided to try the Apple "premium" route this time, except they forgot the quality control...

I have the Edge and just ordered my G4 and I'm hoping to keep the G4 over the Edge. I love the Edge but it's almost too nice. I feel like I have to baby it, even with a case. And having a 2 year old around doesn't help much. The battery life on my edge isn't all that amazing either. I held the G4 at a Tmobile event and it definitely does feel better in the hand to me than my edge. I feel like I can actually use it without worrying about breaking it as easy.

I know leather isn't for everyone but man is it nice to hold and touch in person. If the battery life is better than my Edge and the camera is near quality to my edge, the edge will be getting sold.

The S6 is a very nice device. No doubt about that, but I gave up on Sammy after the S3. I believe they're trying to target consumers with something that looks similar to an iPhone, but at a very similar price point. There was an article recently in Forbes - abysmal Galaxy s6 sales.

Maybe people do care about removable battery and sd after all? The Nexus 6 is a special case. no sd or removable battery, but it's a Nexus. I still believe the G4 will be the phone of the year from the development community and possible reviewers.

Don't worry even G4 forums will be filled by the same complaints. There are always people ******** about something or the other in every forum.

It really depends on your taste. My heart says go for S6 but my mind says G4. Oh boy, torn between two loves...hhhm

I would be more interested to see if the G4 can compete with the Note 4. The S6 can't. I am very intrigued by the LG as I really enjoyed my G3 but the Note series is just too good. With the Note 5 coming down the pipe who knows. That will be the determining factor for my upgrade

That is indeed true. Vocal minority.

Some complaints suggests that a device is good. No complaints suggests that the device doesn't actually exist, because they all have some issues.

I am currently using the S6 Edge on Verizon...and honestly, it's a great phone. I really enjoy the overall size of the phone, although I wouldn't mind the screen little bigger at times. It's supper fast...few hiccups here and there with apps stopping and for no reason the phone heats up (restart and it clears it up). Main problem is the battery. I'm usually near a charger so it hasn't been a problem yet...and when it gets pretty low the fast charge really is remarkable. Having said that...the things that I am drawn to about the G4 is the..
1) replaceable battery
2) bigger screen in the smallest form factor
3) external memory....

since the phone in my opinion is about a wash (obviously some will argue) I'm leaning towards the G4 as the 3 benefits I mentioned are in favor of the G4. And to make it easier for me is the deal BestBuy and LG has going on...so going to today and pre-order. Of course I do need to buy the leather back from else where...cause got to have couple of those leather backs....brown and black for me....

just my opinion.

I have an S6 at the moment, but will likely pick up a G4 to try out. I'll decide between the two at that point. Really liking the S6 though. Battery isn't the greatest, but I'm always near some way to charge it.

Flip a coin. Both are amazing and both have pros and cons.

Not a fan of both UI's, thank God for Nova Prime but I'm leaning towards TouchWiz, one it looks/works better with Nova and I love the little things thing swipe-to-call/text. Before, LG "borrowed" Samsung's MultiWindow and Pop Up Video, these two alone was more than enough to side with Samsung. I also prefer Samsung's Music player, love the customization/tweaks.

LG, I love the display/body ratio squeezing 5.5", I love the customization of the Keyboard and the addition of Pull Down Notification Bar button and of course, said it many times...the Leather back is what I'm after!

This is becoming an incredibly difficult decision. When the S6 was launched I came to the conclusion that I would put my preconceived notions of the home button / capacitive buttons aside and make the jump from my N5. Then I hesitated when I heard LG was going to launch the G4. Now the more I read about the G4 the more I want it. So...I too am torn between the G4 and S6. I just wish AT&T would hurry up and announce (officially) their plans for the G4 - options, price, etc. As much as I like the N5 it's time for it to become my back up phone.

I'm all over the place in decision making right now. Ultimately, I've decided to wait for the Note 5, compare all three based on my personal needs/wants/preferences and make a choice from there. Waiting a few more months increases the likelihood that I'll be a happy buyer. Plus my LG G2 is still serving me well.

I was set on the S6 Edge until I got wind of the G4. It's been tough waiting but the wait is almost over and I am glad I did.

Just need the official release date from Verizon.

S6 / S6E all the way.. There is no freaking way you will get better batterylife from G4, unless you have a lemon or don't know how to use a phone. Therer is no debate, it's marked on stone that G4 has much worse battery life.

Now before everyone jumps on me and declares me as a troll, read the following properly before you comment.

For movies, the difference is like double.. LOL
WTF LG was thinking?? Are they freaking serious? They should orice the phone half of what S6 is selling :D

But I know, most will say that's just one site. Right?

Ohh, PhoneArena must be paid by Samsung. So obviously they must be out there destroying the image of LG.

battery-life.jpg
battery-test-s6-2.jpg

Note: GSMArena tests batterylife at 50% brightness.
G4 (at 50% brightness) - 108nits
S6 (at 50% brightness) - 208nits

Meaning S6 is much brighter than G4 at 50% brightness, level at which GSMArena tested the phones. Imagin at equal brightness, the difference will be much higher in favour of S6.

And this is the result with a much faster processor. With a much slower processor, the G4 was supposed to give much better numbers.

I was under this debate as well but ended up going with the S6:

-Lack of External Storage? Get a cheap OTG Cable and use a flashdrive if you really need the extra space
-Lack of Battery Power? Get a external charger for those times you need one. I have an Aukey external charger that supports quickcharge.

I did like the smaller form factor, inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, and the better audio quality when taking video over the G4. While the G4 is certainly robust in its manual mode setting for camera, the auto mode for both is pretty much a wash - which would be 80% of all shots taken with the phone.

5.1.1 update looks optimistic for the S6 in the battery concerns - and would (hopefully) enable RAW and shutter speed control, which G4 currently has over the S6.

Rd_nest, if you love your GS6 why are you here?

Anyone with half a brain knows that real world usage and battery drain tests do not always equal. (no one but kids watch movies all day on a phone). Considering pretty much every reviewer who's used both for an extended amount of time as their daily device has said the G4 has a better battery, I don't care what in lab testing shows.

I looked at the s6 closely and have spent some time with it. It's a nice phone but not necessarily the phone for me.

I put no real value in any of the reviews that are using non final software since that has such drastic effects on the performance for many different people.

My main concern is about the phones signal reception on my carrier and I know that Samsung phones typically don't fare well in this regard for me.

My other concerns about the phones are personal preferences and personal biases.

Once the g4 is out on all carriers with the final software for each we will see how well it fares.

I will say this about the s6. I distrust Samsung and have been burned by them before waiting on promised software fixes and future accessory releases that never materialized and put absolutely no faith in them for keeping said promises. So for myself this factor has a significant amount of sway in not choosing it as my daily phone. Perhaps someday that will change.

My gripes are few and as I said more personal but one thing that I have seen is the need to have to shut off many of the s6's features to have the phone have acceptable battery life and while that is acceptable to many of the phones current users it isn't to me. There are several threads on several forums discussing this so I know full well there is a real issue with the phone and that makes me shy away from buying one.

While the camera is great on both the ability to utilize raw images now and doesn't have to wait for a software upgrade as the s6 does and wither or not it gets one remains to be seen and as I said before I don't put a lot of faith in Samsung.

Practical considerations for me tend to be cost, my usage, options, value for my money and in this regard the g4 wins hands down. The leather options are the icing on the cake for me.

I have both the S6 Edge and just today received my G4.

Im not going to write up a huge pros and cons article lol as you all have no doubt read reviews and watched many YouTube videos.

Both are great and i took a step down from large smartphones but lg is good at like the G3 and now G4 producing great form factor large display smartphones.

Whatever one you opt for you'll be getting a great smartphone it just depends on what suites you best.

I concur with a previous statement no matter what forums you enter you will see the same things.

Battery life, build and other niggles its just balancing things up and some statements are exaggerated and others fictional and others real.
