S6 radio frequency support for US carriers

I guess I don't get this whole thing, my GS3 can handle call and I can look up stuff on the internet at the same time...you mean the S6 can't?
The s3 also supported svdo in addition to svlte. Svdo is voice and data over 3g. I believe that the s3 was the last phone to support this. As you why, it is a cost issue. And sometime in the future Verizon will remove cdma support completely. It is not just the hardware, but cdma is proprietary technology and Verizon /Samsung have to pay qualcomm royalties on each cdma device.

I can almost say with certainty that Verizon is telling Samsung to remove it so they can push people to VoLTE -- and Samsung will listen since they want their phone to be approved on Verizon.
Most definitely Verizon. Verizon asked Samsung to add another antenna on the note 4 which is why there is a patch on the right lower side, which isn't on the att or tmobile version. The mic hole was also moved on the note 4

Best bet would be the note 4, if you need svlte.

Thanks again for the info you provided.
I've thought about the Note.
I've thought about keeping a 2nd dedicated device in the auto.
I've looked at the maps and tried to determine if I'm over-reacting.
My conclusion is: time to bury the hatchet with AT&T and give them a try again. Their coverage in Michigan should rival Verizon's at this point for reliable voice conversations, so there's no sense in struggling with Verizon as they transition over to packet switched voice. When the Verizon map shows less "extended" (read; may drop to 3G) areas that I frequently traverse, I may go back.

How widespread is VoLTE coverage?

Should be wherever you have 4g service. If you have solid 4g service, turn on Advanced Calling and don't look back. If you're in and out of "extended" areas (or drop to 3g when entering certain buildings), then you're complaining like me.

So will the Sprint S6/S6 Edge support 3G while on a call, or LTE while on a call?

What's the word on international band support?
The fcc filing only includes usa support. We will have to wait until the carrier /samsung releases that information to know about international support.

With that said, the usa Note 4 didn't support international lte so, it is unlikely that the s6 will.

Hmm, good thing for me the country I travel to most uses American HSPA bands most of the time...I'd love more consistent LTE roaming though.

What if I'm in the middle of a large download or a video streaming?
If a voice call comes in, will data be be abruptly cut off or will my
voice calls simply not ring and go straight to voice mail?

Thanks!
If you are on lte then the download should continue. If on 3g then the download would stop

If you have VoLTE enabled it should continue as dpham said .. If not it would stop I believe.

Generally speaking, the T-Mobile variants support international bands pretty well. For example, the T-Mobile S5 and Note 4 have support for LTE bands 1, 3, and 7 along with US bands 2, 4, 5, and 17 (and band 12 on the Note 4). There's no reason that the T-Mobile variant of the S6 won't continue this trend.

so would a verizon s6 phone work on a at&t (LTE) network ?
Most likely not. Verizon doesn't support att primary lte. It does support some secondary lte bands though

Re: S6 radio frequency support for US carriers LTE-A?

Does the Galaxy s6 support LTE-Advanced?
Since they dropped the QUALCOMM chipset for the modem I wonder if that was also dropped.
Also is there an IR port on the s6?

Re: S6 radio frequency support for US carriers LTE-A?

It says S6 will have LTE band 5, but will it be available out of the box? Because i travel to South Korea often and the CDMA network there uses Band 5 as their main band. But I know for the LG G3 the phone had to be rooted in order to activate those bands...

Thank you =]

Re: S6 radio frequency support for US carriers LTE-A?

I'm currently with Verizon and am planning to buy an S6 outright w/ plans to switch to cricket eventually. Since Cricket runs off AT&T, what kind of service will I have with a Verizon S6?
