S7 Battery Already Fried?

I have had the S7 since launch (April 2016) and I just started having these battery problems out of the blue last week. I will be at 60% or so, then all of it sudden it drops down to 8%. Or it will be around 40% and it will power off all of a sudden and when I plug it in, the battery life is at 0%

Time for a new battery? Or is there something else going on?

I loved my S3 and S5 because of the removable battery, too bad Samsung went this route and with such a low performing battery.

It could be a software issue, I would try clearing the cache. Would also back everything up and reset the phone before replacing it or getting the battery replaced.

Any idea how many charge cycles you've had? There are apps that can tell you. What are your charging habits? Leaving a phone on a charger when fully charged(like many do while sleeping) or letting the battery die will add more wear to the battery. Playing games and heavily using the phone while charging causing excess heat will cause more wear on the battery as well.

I think I found the problem. I took my case off and the back cover of the phone is coming apart. I can only assume the battery expanded and pushed it apart. Geez.

If the battery expanded and ended up pushing the rear cover apart, stop using your phone now and send it to Samsung. It's... not safe.
