S7 edge battery is HORRIBLE the last few weeks.

I've got decent battery life on my s7 edge since i got it about a year ago.

In the last few weeks, i am using my phone less yet the battery is dying drastically. I've always kept my screen at full brighteness and it still would last on probably a charge per day/day and a half with constant use. I am barely touching the thing and it is dying.

Went to bed with it at 95 percent. Woke up at 7 and it was at about 80%.
Replied to some happy birthday facebook wall posts and by 11 in the morning, i had to recharge it. It is now 2:00 and battery is done 50%, with me having barely touched it since last charge.

I tried to update it to latest firmware, hoping it'd help. Nope.

Tells me "screen" at 10% is using the most battery. Facebook at 7% and android system at 7%.
These are still small numbers. and it is still draining insanely.

Most likely a rouge app. Unfortunately, those can be hard to find. Have you installed any new apps or taken updates at about the same time the battery life declined? There are suppose to be some better battery apps in Nougat, but I'm not familiar with them.

You could also try dumping your cache, in two places. First is in Setting - Storage - Internal Storage - then touch on Cached Data. The other is in the recovery menu (hold down Power+Home+Volume up from a powered off phone).

Hmmm, i don't recall installing any new apps within the time period i started having my battery drained. However, i might delete some newer ones just to see. I really don't have many apps installed.

Can an SD card affect battery life? I don't know if the battery drainage has happened before i put in my old SD card or after. But it is possible this SD card has old apps from my old phone. I want to say the draining of the battery began before i put this SD card in.

I have already tried clearing cached storage in internal storage. I will try the other way you mentioned to.

My charger still charges my phone to full percent but is looking pretty shady these days.
I wouldn't think that would affect my actual phone battery though.
Would it?

I tried to locate my SD card to check for apps that may have been saved on the SD from my old phone but i am having a hard time locating any apps on the card.

if you have store nougat on the phone this might be the reason. went through 3 replacement and on the 3rd I didn't up grade and I get great battery life not like before barely a day

I seem to recall that another user has a similar problem with his phone and they narrowed it down to a misbehaving SD card.

Yeah there has been the odd case where a SD card gets stuck indexing which has caused some serious drain.

Facebook is also a known culprit which seems to hang in the background as well.
