I posted earlier about a horrible experience with Samsung support (full disclosure). When it comes to the actual phone, I loved it. Beautiful screen, Samsung take on Android was good. Loved the Gear VR. Two things that ultimately made me switch, the battery life was awful and the OS performance was sluggish. Although one of the biggest battery's on the market, it could barely make it to 5:00 PM without dying. When I had the small iPhone I never thought about the battery or noticed OS sluggishness.

I switched to the Moto Z which has a very small battery in comparison and the same processor. It is very snappy in performance and I end the day with 30%-40% battery (same apps and use case).

That makes me think it was one of the various bloatware apps that was sapping the battery.

Have you checked whats eating up your battery? I'm a pretty heavy user but the phone always makes it through the day

It how the power is managed in Android look at Apple with smaller batteries but longer life. Android devices need better battery management to compete with devices like Apple.

It's a shame you didn't have the Exynos Samsung, the Snapdragon seems to be quite heavy on battery consumption.

I can easily make it through a full day with my Exynos S7 Edge.

As I post this I just arrived from a 6hour road trip, that had my S7E playing music via BT in the car for around 3hours, me surfing the web, taking some pics, social media (WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook), going through areas that had no signal etc... I still have 52% battery to keep going until bedtime in around 4hours.

Something that I did find interesting is that after deleting some access folders in my SD Card made my S7E even more frugal. My SD Card is quite messy with files and folders going back 8years, so it did need a clean.

I get 7 hours SOT from 4 in the morning to or 5pm watching videos, email, reading and some gaming. I have alot of apps disabled like flip board, Facebook, messenger, a few others. Just depends how you use it.

Battery times do vary on the individuals usage habits.

I have the s7 edge unbranded version in the Uk.

One of my preferences is not to use the Facebook App as I find it a resource hog.

Instead I access my Fb account via the Samsung Browsers URL Box.

I turn on my s7 edge at 6am.

Use it in various ways similarly to others in previous posts and it easily gets me through 1.5 to 2 days between charges.

I have been using the Exynos version + Nougat on Cricket Wireless and it easily lasts me a day (probably more but I charge it every night). I don't have anything special to save battery.

It could be one of the bloatware apps. It was the AT&T variant. I disabled all of the crap I didn't want or use, but I could have missed something. I ran utilities to find the battery pigs and disabled them. The weird thing is that I am not a heavy user. SOT requirements for both the Samsung and Motorola was less than 2 hours. Same apps, same habits on a different phone, much different outcomes.

Same here. By far the best battery life of any phone I've owned, including an iPhone 6S+. But rouge apps can be an Android bane, no doubt. And they can be hard to find sometimes, even with root only apps.
