Android Central Question

So I just got down the mountain where I spent the morning on a once in a lifetime trip to Machu picchu.... I sat down for lunch to look at my photos and all the selfies (since I'm alone that means all of them with me in them) are basically black with some slight red. I've restarted the phone and it might be fixed but all my photo evidence of this once in a lifetime trip seems lost....is there any way to fix these photos???????? I've barely stopped crying long enough to ask

Welcome to Android Central! Were they saving to Internal Storage or an SD card?

Do you remember seeing the selfie images intact at any point (like right after taking them)? If you use My Files and look directly in the /DCIM/Camera directory, do those image files still show up as black?

They were definitely intact when I first took them but they're black still searching that way from DCIM thank you for asking

And you don't have Google Photos auto-backup turned on, do you?
