Do third party apps work with the edge bar? Also, do they show in the always on display? let's say I want to use Textra for my messaging app. Will I be able to see textra notifications in the always on display? Or just samsung apps?

Third party apps don't shoe on the always on display

Samsung is opening up the APIs for the edge bar so third party developers can make use of it. I'm not sure if that will be true for the AOD or not. Even if so, it will be up to individual devs to decide to incorporate those features. Some will, many won't. I can't see Google adding Samsung AOD support to its apps, for example.

i think for the AOD, it will be the other way around. samsung will most likely allow all notifications access to the display. kind of like how the split screen function only worked with a few apps, and now works with significantly more.

that's my hope anyways.
