S7 Edge - Verizon preorders

I just got in my Amazon order of 2 cases and screen protector. I am pleasantly pleased to find that the outer dimensions of an S7 TPU case is less than my S4 in a thick waterproof case. Having a non-huge phone was one of my primary considerations for getting the S7 over others.
Now that I am holding a case in my hand... I just need the slabs of glass and densely packed circuit boards to go in it!

Pre-ordered from Best Buy (3/4) and Verizon (3/5) so I can get both the Gear S2 and VR headset. I'll either keep the 2nd phone or sell it on Swappa or something. No movement or info from Verizon, everything still says processing with the 1800's ship date.

However, Best Buy emailed me and said my order will be ready for pickup on 3/7, so I'm very excited to get it today.

Verizon doesn't just go off the phone that's currently activate but the IMEI number of whatever device you signed the contract with.

So .. keep the 6 that you used to do the 2 year contract and send in an old iPhone 4 instead?

correct, but from what I am hearing it is too late to do that because the iphone 4 would of had to be activated on the account prior to doing the preorder.

So you are saying even if I had the iphone 4 active before the preorder they would ask for the iphone 6 back because that was my phone during the 2 year contract? honestly speaking what if something happened to that phone and I had to activate my 4 as a backup

Just make sure you sell off the BB phone!

It wouldn't have worked anyway. First I would never recommend trying to pull a fast one on a carrier or insurance company as that walks the line of fraud.

The reason it wouldn't have worked is because they have your IMEI / Serial number for the iPhone 6 you bought from them in their system. This way it prevents people from pulling things like this off. An example is my gf broke her iPhone 6 and we went into T-Mobile and did an insurance claim. Before even moving forward with it they confirmed it was actually the phone that was on the plan by the IMEI / Serial number of the phone. They do that so someone doesn't bring in a friends broken iPhone and get it replaced for them for just a deductible.

Same thing with your order. If they have you in a contract for 2 years and are allowing you to "upgrade" via giving them the old phone and doing so -- they know exactly what phone it should be. I am sure the rep may have said "The one active on the line" and by that they mean the one with the contract .. Reps just usually aren't clear in that sense. They didn't mean the one currently active on it.

You signed a 2 year contract for the iPhone 6 so yes, that's the phone you're legally obligated to send back. If your 6 were to somehow break, you'll have to pay the amount specified in your agreement when you did the upgrade. I've seen it around $3-400 in the event you send in a broken phone or fail to send in the phone at all.

Why the BB one?

Because you have the Gear VR in hand whereas the Verizon phone you agreed to a device payment plan. It's just creating a potential reason for your pre-order gift to be void since you'll have to pay off the device before you can sell the phone. I'm sure you won't have any issues but you're still creating a potential problem. Just remember we submit a form to Samsung to receive our gift, it's not shipped with the phone itself.

Yeah I hear ya, when they started doing the edge program years ago I did pull a fast one on them and had activated an old phone, called them to do the early edge and sent that phone back so it did work. Maybe now they are just more aware of it. I guess I will trade in the iphone 6! I mean I am getting a free watch and a WAY better phone! right? lol

I'll admit I pulled a stunt like that awhile ago and got away with it. Now the agreements clearly show the IMEI of the device you have to send back and they're now absolute fastidious about verifying everything with the phone. I managed to accidentally send in a wrong device for an account credit, I had 2 white S4s in the same drawer, and they contacted me about why the IMEI was different.

Excellent point, which is why I bought the phone outright from BB with their 0% interest CC. They give you the VR headset and SD card in store. No need to go through samsung promotions other than when I get the VZW version for the gear S2. I'll probably sell the BB version anyway to pay off the card.

P.S. So you've threatened the US with nuke attacks again, huh?

On computer now, checking my order status...and of course it's still processing. I hate life. I'm going shopping, haha.

2 of the 3 s7's I ordered were done with the early upgrade option where I had to sacrifice my device to pre-order the s7 or wait until Apr 2 to order outright.....(which meant no Gear S2 promo)

so before I placed the pre-order on 3/1 I have a box of old phones from years gone by and activated an old LG touch 1100 and an LG envy 1000 on those 2 lines before I placed my pre-order......

when I placed the order the email confirmation shows the IMEI for the 2 devices I have to sacrifice...

after the order was complete I went back and switched my 2 lines back to their current device....(which had to be done over the phone via CS because once you have a pending order you can not switch devices online)

so had to sacrifice 2 old LG's to get 2 Gear s2's

You must use the menu in the top left corner, select shop and my orders under that.
