I had the same issue and started with wiping the cache partition. Sadly what truly fixed it for me was doing a factory reset. But in your case with lag check to see how much free storage is available, I have noticed as I fill up my phone with pictures, movies, music etc it tends to slow down a bit as I get closer to 30 gb used.It's back to crashing, there is also a huge amount of lag. Funny thing is my brother and I have the same phone, and we both got the issue after the Samsung cloud/September security update. Anyone else have the same issue?
