I use the built in email app from Samsung on my S8+. I checked the "About" menu which said an update is available. I tapped "Update" which took me to the Play store and it indicated that app was not compatible with my phone. What gives? How can a stock app not be compatible? Other than downloading the APK from somewhere else how can I update it?

That is funny, I wonder if they made a mistake on their manifest (where it says in code what versions work for the app) for Android versions. You may want to even consider a better email client like MailDroid ;-)

Did you have a previous Samsung phone, and if so have you changed that in Play? Play was still showing my older phone and some of the new stuff is not compatible with it. Otherwise, just give it some time and I'm sure you'll get the correct version.

PJRed2008,

I had an S6 Edge previously. What you suggested was exactly what I was trying to do yesterday but couldn't find where to see if my Edge was still attached and if so how to take it off. How do I take care of that?

Thank you,
Eric

Okay, I found it. I had to use a web browser instead of the Play app. Now it's updated. Thank you for your help!!

You're welcome and glad you figured it out. Just as an FYI, I missed your return question as I don't get back to all the threads sometimes. If you want to address a question to a specific poster as you did above, precede their user name with the @ symbol. That will trigger a Mention in the dropdown menu you see at the top right of your screen and makes it more likely you'll get a faster response.
