S8 Pre-order incentives

Pretty sure that article is incorrect. You can view the devices and prices on the Best Buy website right now - and it's showing $50 off the S8 and $100 off the S8+.

The other quirk about how they are doing it is that they are reducing the monthly payment by a few bucks each month (For AT&T at least). You don't get the discount if you buy it outright.
Best Buy gets a kickback from the carriers for signing customers up on EIP. They don't get the kickback if the customer pays for the device in full. That's why their option to buy devices in full are priced higher. They have to make their profit on the device.

So is Best Buy paying the first $100 down? To clarify, I wanted to know if I wanted to pay off the phone in a month later would that $100 be applied or is it applied over time?

Thanks. Yeah, I knew that...I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I'm used to Best Buy showing me the price of the unit when I'm buying it - even on NEXT. In the case of the S8/+ they only show the monthly payment. You have to do the math and multiply the monthly payment by the number of months you choose to see the "actual" price you're paying.

And, as you mentioned, if you select to pay full price you won't see any discount off of MSRP.

I'm not 100% sure.

The way it should work is your EIP should show 24 payments of the lower price. If you decide to pay it off after you sign the EIP then you would pay 24 * the listed payment.

On the Samsung app, it shows the S8 T-Mobile version is only $650, has anyone tried to order this yet?

Looks like at walmart you can get up to $150 off if you pre-order in the store. You have to sign up for the installment plan.

Ordered Verizon with $100 bundle. The sd card alone is worth $100 on the black market, the headphones at least 60, and gear vr with controller 100. You can recoup quite a bit if you don't need the extras.

How did you get the $100 bundle at pre-order with Verizon. Their offer says the following:

"Get a Free Gear VR.
After you check out, visit Samsung.com/promotions to redeem free Gear VR.
Purchase req'd before 4.21.17. Visit samsung.com/promotions to redeem free Gear VR by 5.14.17. While supplies last."

Plus for an extra $99 you can get AKG headphones and the Samsung 256gb memory card

Can you order/pay for the $99 upgrade when you order the phone via the app? I pre-ordered mine through Best Buy last night and I couldn't find a way to order the upgrade. I'm worried I won't be able to claim the offer...at the very least there's a "while supplies last" statement in the offer and I've been screwed out of promos before because of limited quantity. I want to make sure I don't miss out. $99 for the headphones and 256GB card is too good pass up.

Preordered thru Samsung.com the T-Mobile S8+ plus the $99 full Gear VR immersion kit. Supposedly delivers on April 20th.

Cancelled my T-Mobile preorder and went with Samsung.com instead.

Well it went through! Ordered on Samsung.com for the T-Mobile Arctic Silver at $650, was also able to add the $99 Experience Box at checkout (says to be delivered on 4/20).

Wanted the black, but for a $100 the silver started to look pretty nice.
