S8 / S8+ First Impressions Thread

I do not keep trying to correct you. You are over looking what people have said and what you are saying yourself. There is no problem with pointing out facts, I am just asking if you could just be a little nicer in doing so.

Shouldnt this be between me and the person I was talking to and not you.
If I wanted i could be a trusted member just like you. But I do not want to be one.
Then I would be correcting you .

It has nothing to do with be to do with being a trusted member. It has to do with being nice towards the people in these forums and simple common courtesy.

People are just asking for help, expressing their opinions, etc. There is no reason to be rude to them, they were not rude to you. All I asked is that you try to be a little nicer to them, that is all.

I've had mine for 6 days now and hate my S8. I'm going to see if I can return it. It's slippery as all get out, it's battery is no better at all and maybe worse than my note 4 even with screen turned down to HD, the swype typing is ridiculously bad, it's way to narrow, they removed the IR remote that I used daily. 18.5x9 screen make no since. Nobody formats video or apps for 18.5x9. It's all 16x9. The edges folding over wastes more screen. It just creates black bars on the sides and is a waste And, part of that wonderful sized rated screen (marketing bull) gets used by the buttons at the bottom. It's over exaggerated. The camera really isn't that great. It tries to over contrast and hdr the pics so everything looks fake. People skin looks blurry. You can turn off HDR but still looks bad to me. It is extremely fast. I'll give it that. But I'm not impressed at all. Guess I'll try a Pixel.

If'n I remember correctly the S6 was the last year of the IR blaster on the phone.
They said that enough people wasn't using it.
And the newer TV's used something different. Don't ask me what.
If you put the phone in a case. Its a lot different and easier to hold.
On the battery. I turned mine off auto brightness.
And installed Greenify .
I go in and turn the apps off that are in memory .

New phones are gonna have to go threw I guess you call it a learning period before the battery adjust and gets better.
But the more you are on them. and the more you got apps in the back ground the more its gonna use the battery.
The Pixel is a nice phone.
Got a neighbor that has one. He said you don't have a button to mute a call like on the other phones.
Something to look at.

I know if I left the S8+ I would miss the phone, the quick charging, and a lot more about it.
I like it a lot more than my S5, S6, note 5, note 7 and S7Edge that I had.
And all of my 6 iphones.

So after a week with the S8+, I thought I'd throw in my $.02.

The biggest thing I was uncertain about when moving from the S7 edge was the aspect ratio of the screen. But now, I've fallen in love with it. After using my wife's S7 for a few minutes, the screen felt too boxy and clunky for me. I love scrolling through my reddit app (which accommodates the S8's 18:9 aspect ratio) or even simply surfing chrome.

I LOVE the updated camera app. While the camera itself isn't an upgrade over the S7, the updated interface brings a lot to the table for me. I'm sure this is something the S7 will get eventually, but for now being able to zoom in and out by sliding the shutter button is so handy. And pro mode is fun too.

I'm really enjoying the selfie camera, with it's auto focus and boost in quality over the S7.

And the phone just feels SO MUCH BETTER IN MY HAND than the S7 edge did. The rounded sides on the back are super comfy and I find myself taking the phone out of it's case when I'm at home and work.

Overall, I'm glad I upgraded, even though it was a smaller incremental step up from S7 edge, and this has quickly become my favorite android phone of all time.

After being with Verizon for a while I am considering moving over to T-Mobile. I know every carrier has their own drawbacks, but T-Mobile has made great advancements in their network over the past few of years and works very well in my area. They also have much better pricing than Verizon and they don't remove as many features as Verizon does.

I like Tmo as a business, but their coverage in Ohio and Kentucky is something only Tmo moms could love. Verizon way better. Sadly so.

The S8+ is a more accurate device compared to the Note 4 (I have a Note 4 too), since total surface of the S8 display is closer to the S7. I think you would have been more happy. That said, if you are not using a case, best to avoid the newer flag phones since they are all slippery crack magnets. Note 4 is a warrior. I would actually be happy with the 8+ tech magically placed into a Note 4 footprint. Display tech too.

I liked At&T, Hated all their Bloatware. Especially Samsung pay and Android pay and Facebook.
I had a 23% discount with them. But their phone would hardly ever work in my house.
And outside my house.
Being in the country, Its Verizon or At&T.
And Verizon has 3 times the coverage that At&T does,

You need to know who has the strongest signal and the best coverage where you are gonna be using your phone.
That is #1 concern.

The note 4 is a nice phone. But its So Slow.
buddy had a note 4. I had a note 5.
Big jump in the phones speed and storage with the Samsung S8 and S8+ that just come out.

I think I owned and upgraded so much, the excitement has disappeared...after a few days.

It took me 2 days, I forgot about the edge feature.

Honestly, I use my moto Z more because of the JBL SoundBoost.

I think that's my problem. I move from flagship to flagship. Nothing seems to wow me anymore. Heaven forbid I go more than 6 months with the same phone.

Wow you sound as bad as me.
I got to stop buying phones every 6 months.

The funniest thing happened to me on my break today. I went to my local T-Mobile store as I was going to look into a better pair of bluetooth headphones. The lady was in there talking to a wrap and couldn't decide between the 8th and the Plus. I showed her my plus that I had in my hand and also the lady in front of me had the regular 8 so she was able to hold the actual phone and compare them side-by-side without having to worry about the display model restrictions. She was so excited it was funny to watch her

Do you know what she decided on ?

So I've had mine for a couple of days now and I am absolutely loving it. I purchased my Samsung Galaxy S8+ in Orchid Grey at my local AT&T store on the 2rth of April. Previously, I had the Silver Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I paid off the remaining balance of that phone and Gabe it to my mom.

Here are the things I love about this phone, in the couple of days that I've had it:

- 64GB internal storage. This is primarily the reason why I decided to upgrade to the S8+. On my S7E I kept getting too close to maxing out the storage and it got aggravating trying to figure out what apps I wanted to keep and which ones I had to delete. I play a lot of games on my phone and I mostly had game apps taking up space. I figured that if I was already reaching max storage and I just had the phone for a year, I could almost guarantee that I would end up having to get rid of apps, etc to make up room for future software updates, etc and I didn't want to have to go through that, so I am thankful that Samsung decided to make the internal storage at 64GB.

- the screen is absolutely beautiful! I love the infinity screen especially when watching videos! The experience is absolutely superb.

- the feel of the phone when I hold it. I just love how easy it is to use this phone. Even at 6.2" it's not that much of a hassle to handle this phone.

So far, those are the major points that has impressed me with this model. I am still learning the works around this device and am looking forward to experiencing the next couple of years with this phone!

P.S. I have this phone through AT&T and I love that it has Samsung on the back instead of the AT&T logo!

Glad to hear you're happy with your phone. I absolutely love mine

Current download speeds on T-Mobile. Loving the phone so far

How did you get that kind of download speeds? Is it 4g or something? My pos computer can't go that fast, lol.

For having the phone for about 2 days or so now, I have to say I am loving it. I am like a kid in a candy store. All the little maybe useless stuff like the Bixby picture photo/shopping thing is just fun to play with. Showed the older guys are work what it can do and they were like wtf? I don't typically take pictures, as no matter how easy it is I somehow make them look terrible. But there are a lot of cool things on the camera that will make it fun to use even with how little I use the camera.

I also really like AOD and all the customizing stuff you can do with a lot of the phone. And seriously? Did not know about the edge lighting and then saw it and I giggled with joy. Such a stupid simple thing and it makes me so happy. I am still going through a video that was posted to me about how to use and do things on the phone, there's like 150+ things to go through.

For the bad or really not so bad stuff. I would like to be able to change the talk bubbles in text messages to other colours. Something where I can contrast the messages background. I am having issues with pressing the home button, not sure if I am just off on my press or I have to make the touch more sensitive. I am sure I will find more wrong with it in the future as we are still in the honeymoon phase of the relationship.

They made the phone so sexy that having to get a case nullifies the looks. But better safe than sorry, yes I know they make clear cases but it's the whole phone as one that gives it the sexiness. I wish there was an offer for a Gear watch with the phone and not a VR headset, not that I got in on that in time.

Here is what I like about my phone. Oh damn, I don't have an S8. Sorry, wrong thread😉

Very glad to see everyone enjoying there new phoneツ
