S8 SIM card tray won’t go fully into reader

[Android Central Question]

Bought an S8 on eBay and looks an amazing phone. But sim card tray won’t sit fully into the reader. It sits out a couple mm beyond the frame and so SIM card can’t be read.

It looks like there is something in the middle end of the reader preventing the tray from sitting flat. Could this be the ejection arm not fully retracting? I have tried gentle pressure but whatever it is isn’t budging. Doesnt seem to be a foreign object.

Any thoughts or experiences gratefully recieved.
