So I've enjoyed the S8 so far minus an issue after only a month of owning the phone due to repeated charging issues. For four days I had to practically work voodoo on my 8 just to get it to accept the charger (corded) I kept getting a "moisture detected in port" message and there was never any chance of moisture getting in there. Verizon tech said it was a software glitch, his did it too, and apparently it was. Next day, no issues. Problem gone.

Less than 48 hours ago my phone preformed an auto update overnight and the following morning my battery went from 100% to 46% in less than four hours with no use, and was hot to the touch. Removed case, shut down, let sit ten minutes restarted, same battery issue, but was also having my lock screen intermittently flash every four seconds. The phone would never go back to sleep mode. Alerts in the pull down menu were also "dancing or shuffling" around for the lack of a better term. Very erratic, and very annoying. By late afternoon with very limited use, I was down to 16% battery life. I had only made a short phone call all day, no web browsing etc. I had to switch to max battery save mode.

Got home and plugged the charger in, prior to this issue my phone would charge from 50% to 100% in less than 30 minutes. It took almost five hours to charge back to 100% from 16%.

Verizon warrantee service sending out a new phone overnight.
This is my third galaxy since the 5 and I love these phones, but I'm starting to lose my confidence in their product.

I can understand you're frustrated, but it sounds as though you might have just got a bad apple. Unfortunately fabrication/programming processes can't be 100%- why throw the baby out with the bathwater? Odds are your new replacement will be pretty close to perfect.

I switched from iphone 7plus to S8 and I am also on verizon however after reading the bad reviews on the verizon website about the S8 I decided to buy the unlocked coral blue S8 directly from samsung and I have to say I am experiencing none of the complaints from the reviewers of the verizon version apart from the annoying bixby feature. Compared to the S7 and S7 edge I returned earlier this year due to over heating issues this S8 is literally the coolest android I've used so far. I spent a day or two running it at its default settings and then tweaked a few things under "Developer Options" like turning off the animations "all 3 options" which were at 1.5 the phone runs super smooth at the moment considering I also turned on the builtin malware protection from McAfee.
So far with this unlocked version and being on verizon the missing feature was no wifi calling available and no visual vm app offered by verizon in the play store but the later problem was solved by downloading app called YouMail. Only thing I miss now is imessage and wish samsung quit putting any more effort into this bixby b.s and let google handle that. I asked bixby "play music" it replied it couldn't do that I then long pressed the virtual home button to launch google and said to play music and walla music stored on my phone started playing. So the point is go for the unlocked version, updates may come late but in my opinion your unlocked phone will run better than verizon or other carrier versions.

I can't bash this phone at all its the best phone I have owned to date! Get and enjoy your replacement.

Quick question. How do I know if I have a "verizon" version or a "Samsung" unlocked version. I bought mine at Best buy. It is coral blue and I am on Verizon.

In settings>about phone, my US unlocked S8 model # is SM-G950U1. Not sure what Verizon model # is. If it's Verizon, you will have a brief Verizon boot screen when you start up phone. You would also have Verizon apps on the phone.

I'm suspecting Verizon's overlay on top of Samsung's causing these software issues. Verizon is notorious for customizing and disabling features. Hopefully your replacement works fine.
