There's some kind of cable adapter that comes with the S9+. I just bought all new high quality braided cables for my Note 3. Just micro usb. I asked the guy at Best Buy if that adapter would adapt my cables to the usb C. He said yes. Great I thought.

I just watched the smart switch video. The guy is using a S8 and uses an adapter to sync the two phones together. Is that the same adapter that comes with the S9. Because that adapts to full size usb size meaning I won't be able to use my high dollar cables.

Anyone know exactly what it does. Thanks.

I am not sure if the S9 comes with it but you can buy very affordable micro USB to USB C adapters and still use your cables. With my S8+ I use the adapters where I have micro USB (such as my work desk).

So would I get the fast transfer and charge speeds if I use the adapter?

The cables I bought are the Anker powerline +. Not sure what speed those are right now with out looking them up. Have to do it later as I'm leaving for the day.

I haven't really done much research on the topic, but it's likely to depend on what kind of USB A port you are plugged into. My initial thought is that it will be able to have some sort of faster charging with QC USB 2.0 may be limited to standard charging speeds depending on the max current of the charger. I'm not sure it will be able to charge faster on a USB 3.0+ as it will still only be connected to the 2.0 pins only and I don't know if any of the 2.0 pins were allowed to provide more voltage in a 3.0+ port. The best source for this would probably be to look at the USB standards, but they can be a little technical to read.

I get fast charging when using micro USB to USB-C adapters. I can't tell you scientifically how fast but it is fast charging.

The S8's and Note 8 both came with a Micro USB to USB-C adaptor and a USB A (full size USB) in the box so I'll assume the S9's will be the same and your new cables will be fine

I hate to use any kind of an adapter unless I have to.

I talked to Anker today. They said I was 1 day past my 30 return policy. But they said they would honor it and I could return the cables and 2.0 charger I bought as long as I paid for the shipping.

So that's what I'm doing,,,lol.

Thanks for the help.
