So, what happens to my S9 when the battery is fully charged.....AND.....
it is still on the charger......is the battery getting damaged if the charger is still on?????
I know there are some chargers that will "Turn Off" when the battery is 'full', but what about my USB 'C' charging cable when I leave it on all night.

Always wondered about this.

Welcome to Android Central! This might be helpful as well: https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-409-charging-lithium-ion. That whole site has lots of good information.

Is there something I'm missing?

Your original post was listed as "Android Central Question," looks like it was made before you registered, but the OP doesn't change to your username automatically, so. I edited your name so that you get credit for the post.

I saw the question posed years ago, and the charging system is pretty smart. The phone switches to a "powered" mode from the cable itself, and the battery takes a "sip" of juice as its needed to maintain. My phones practically live on a charger for a good portion of their lives. Now, the battery will degrade over time due to usage, but I can say that being on a charger isn't gonna mess things up for you.

Well as a few examples, pixels have an adaptive charging feature for the pixel stand (and cable I believe) that slow charges the phone to 80% until a bit before your phone's alarms due to go off, then finishes the charge to 100% right before you wake up to extend battery life, vs keeping it at 100% all night long. Pixels also have a built in feature that reduces the charge to 80% if the phones charging for 4 days straight. And Moto Z phones are setup to only charge to 80% when you have a battery pack attached to them, because they found that when the battery pack was keeping the phone battery at a constant 100% charge phone batteries were prematurely dying.

That and the other helpful links here should increase your battery knowledge a bit ;)
