S9+ Headphones are terrible

I found the AKG headphones to be pretty decent actually. That being said, I had a pair of Airpods that I love that I didn't think would work on this phone, so got the Gear Icon X and they kept losing connection like mad. Found out the Airpods work so those are still my go to headphones.

I also find the AKG headphones to be pretty damn good for an in the box set. Better than most including the Apple trash that iphones come with.

This is true, however there is NO bass at all, it is just a tinny sound
They probably aren't sitting in your ear properly. This seems to be overly true with this set. If it's not just right, the bass drops off. But when it is in the ear right, there is plenty of bass. Try changing the rubber ear buds to the next size up. I had to change the rubber bud to the next size up so they would sit in my ear right.

Hi folks, a fix for SOME of you, re AKG's IEM's. Mine didn't sound proper at all when I first connected the jack to the device, it was tinny, distant telephone sound. I noticed they had the three ringed TRRS fitting which usually sends my Hidizs AP100 potty, [has to be reset after trying TRRS types] I think TRRS types are for in line volume or phones, anyway when I pulled the jack out a little I got a reasonable sound out of one ear, so I connected them to my A&K and bingo, one good pair of IEM's. I have AKG 702s and AKG K1000 and a £100+ IEM' so I think I can speak of sound quality. try the IEM's on a different device or with an adaptor, right angled device or something maybe with two ringed TRS type fitting. I promise you these are good sounding IEM's, take the trouble to get the best out of them and you will be rewarded. I prefer them to my Shure IEM's now.

Surprisingly good pair of earphones. Tested with my Mojo connected to s9.
Sound stage is good, not lacking bass at all, not too heavy or boomy at the same time. Just right for me.
It's being tuned with a pop music appetite I think. High on treble, maybe too high if you are looking for a very balanced or natural sound, but should appeal to most who is not asking for audiophile sound.
I would say it is on par with other $100-range phones out there. Not to mention there are indeed many JUNK in that range from the popular brands.

Oh one important thing, the bass you get is 100% affected by how tight the silicone tips fit in your ears. This is especially true for this particular earphone (not sure why). When it's slightly loosen, it lost most of the bass. I am using the original tips and didn't bother changing for a larger one. Make sure you push it all the way in to enjoy the bass.

for the money, I've yet to find headphones better than skullcandy for my ears. I admit my hearing sucks though

I bought the S9+ for the phone not the accessories. That being said the headphones are good and I appreciate they are included. I do listen to headphones a lot (gym/work) so I have need for a good pair. This being the case I went out and purchased a good pair and am more than happy. I not keep the included headphones in my bag at work in case I forget my "better" pair.

I reverted back to using my ear buds that came with my s7 edge. Which I love. The problem with the ones that came with the s9 plus is that you can hear yourself breathing through the ear buds. It's so annoying.

Depends on how well earbuds push into the ear without coming out.. Got awesome bass and sound when i pushed it well into the ear.. When i started off i got the initial impression that these were terrible.. In reality sound is awesome if it fits well..

They were very very good on a noisy airplane. Probably saved my hearing, without bringing along very pricy noise cancelling headphones.

The included AKG tuned earbuds that came with my S9 are actually very nice for included headphones in the box as well as dual-driver buds, though they're not going to blow away anything like any of 1MORE's dual or triple driver in-ears. Fit will be somewhat finicky depending on your ear canals but sound pretty clean with the right fit and are pretty balanced though having Dolby Atmos on can affect their sound signature a bit. They almost make me want to stop using my Sennheiser Momentum/HD1 in-ears. Almost.

The AKG headset which came with the S9 series is great as it is free. Nothing free is supposed to be this good. Except for LG's Quadbeat.other than that its irrelevant to say its bad as it is FREE...

Well it would seem my ears can not handle these bad boys then :-( In fact i seem to struggle with alot of in ear buds ;-(

Really? I have them, I own an S8 and I've never heard better quality coming from Samsung. These akg earbuds are the best they've produced so far. And they look great too. They're definitely not worth 100$, but hey at least they were in the box. Free stuff is always a win. And bass is actually pretty good.

How ******* loud do you breathe mate? Are you a horse? Damn!

I gave away the S9+ ear bubs away ... it's horrible ..!!
Still use my Note 5 head set .. best for running ... :)

The "AKG TUNED" headset which came with the S9 series is good enough considering that its free. Im not an audiophile but its good enough. Not as good as LG's Quadbeat but good enough.

And yes money/price matters. The retail price of the "AKG TUNED" headset is around USD$10 in Indonesia. For USD$10 im pretty sure its one of the best.

Actually Samsung did make a better earbud. It was the ones that came with the first version of A3/A5/A7. In ear ones...

Seems they might be messed up? I've heard the stock AKG and do not sound tinny. Sound as good as the S8+ stocked AKG buds. Sound stage and instrument separation seem good. Then again, I use 192KB MP3s, so might not be the best reference ;)

Agreed. I think if they sound tinny there is something wrong with them. I am using the S9+ AKG buds and they definitely sound nothing close to tinny. They are actually the best earbuds that have come with any previous Samsung phone that I've owned (BY FAR), and also probably the best earbuds I've ever used period, which is saying a fair bit. I've tried many different ones. And I'm not listening to high def formats on my phone. Just Spotify and stuff. HOWEVER, I'm not comparing these to super high end earbuds. If I'm going to spend that kind of money I'm buying good headphones. I'm just talking the $20 - $100 range for earbuds.
