S9+ i cannot hold and press misspelled word to delete after it has been saved, can it be done?

On my S8 in my text, if i swyped and an incorrect word came up, i could press and hold on the word in the predictive text bar and it would allow me to delete it. Now it is not possible and i am frustrated. Everything i find just tells me to turn off predictive speech, i don't want to. I just want to delete previously saved misspelled words again
