I believe the Snapdragon 845 is really fast and quick but it's hard to find real evidence yet on the s9. The best video I can find is this so far https://youtu.be/UakHd-XxKEU

However I'm debating whether to get this phone and the main reason for doing so is for speed. I do tons of things on the phone like you guys and at the end of the day, my only criteria is, is it even a little bit faster? Anyone else a power user like me and is planning to upgrade just for speed? Forget camera and all that.

One of my main reasons for upgrading from the note 8 is for the new processor. Not saying I'm a power user, but definitely above average. The camera is the other reason I'm switching.

Yea. Same here. Any performance gain I get, I can use. I don't use the camera much. Also the dual speaker, is much more important to me for conference calls.

If you're after speed, always go OnePlus route. The main point of that device design is to leave everything at least mediocre to acceptably good levels (camera, audio, etc), but blow everything else away with speed. Kind of like how when modifying a car for racing, you strip it of unnecessary weight to make it lighter, thus faster.

Yes. The one plus 5t is extremely fast. I do wish the s9 was that fast but it's not quite that level of performance. But it is waterproof ;)

honestly it is not worth the upgrade from s8 plus to s9 plus.. I went today to BestBuy and saw them on display... No difference at all in terms of speed. Maybe camera is a little better that's all.

Did you open the apps? There is a stutter and lag when you open the phone app on the s8. But not with the s9. Even the video shows that and it's floor model.

You mean not worth it to you. For others it is worth it. It's not for everyone. But it is for some.

I have S8 plus played, around with S9 was snappier but probably only because no apps on it yet. I think all newer phones are quicker for that reason. last year's pixel is quicker out of the box than my s8 just because of no bloat. Im getting pixel xl 2 or pre order s9 plus today. Any thoughts?

Pixel 2 XL is a good phone to buy if you can get a deal on it. In regards to if the phone is worth a 900$ upgrade from an s8+ for just a little snappier, not for me. Like the guy above me said, most likely all your apps and stuff are not installed so it will run without any lag until you start putting things into it. I do admit there are a lot of good things such as, stereo speaker, better fingerprint sensor(although I've gotten used to s8+ position), and possibly better camera. Still not enough to warrant an upgrade for me though.

Yes exactly what I was gonna say, the way I see it's the s9 is like a BMW that does 13.5 seconds on a quarter of a mile and the one plus is like a modified civic that does 11 seconds on a quarter of a mile, some peopleonly cares. about the quarter of a mile time but the majority would. prefer the BMW

I'm currently using the 2xl and it's as fast today as the day i bought it. It's everyone fast and the camera is ridiculous on it. I'm getting the s9+ for about $500 so I'm going to try it out, but there's a chance I'll pass it on to my wife and keep using the 2xl.

It's not as fast the pixel 2xl but I believe you'll get a better phone hardware wise. I wish it was as quick as the pixel tho.

I also have a P2XL. It runs great, camera is excellent as you said. I'm on the 3rd one - 1st had a very blue shift, 2nd had bright flash on display when the display turned off. Software updates & previews of new versions are nice. That being said, returning it twice was disappointing. I'm looking forward to the display & camera on the S9+. I'm done with rooting so that isn't a factor any more. It's pretty hard to improve on the stock firmware on the new phones. Security is more important now as well with all the personal and financial info on your phone. I'm gonna keep the Pixel & try out the S9+, probably keep one, get rid of the other. I'll be good until the P3 comes out... :p

The s9 other than speed is probably better than XL in so many ways. Especially since it's caught up with the camera now as the XL. Much better design too than the XL but that's my op

The S9 will most likely only use the bottom firing speaker for conference calls because of the location of the noise cancelling mic. Speaker phone is funny like that. Even the Razer phone had a mediocre speaker phone.
