This is absolutely false by 100%. DO NOT listen to this. The REAL reason Verizon is shipping later than the rest is, because of stock and accessories availability. Verizon is expecting this phone to be huge and rightfully so and they also want to make sure they have accessories readily available when it launches. Look at AT&T and t mobile, they are having a hard time already with stock and even fulfilling preorders and those company don't have nearly as much users as Verizon does.
Listen, Verizon gave a ship by date and so far their on par for that date. It happens every time a new phones launches, Everyone gets upset about it. Just be patient, plus keep in mind it's a ship by date not a launch date which means we could see it sooner.
This is more in line with what I believe as well. Verizon was certainly aware of the frustration caused by the delay of the Nexus, and wanted to avoid a similar scenario. They announced a date, that in all honesty is NOT that far behind the others. Unlike the others, however, they will actually be prepared and have a strong and unified launch. That is, we'll get our preorders, the stores will get demo units, as well as a certain number of units to sell, all on launch day, regardless of color or storage size. Stock will be replenished in stores the following days, and anyone who wants a Galaxy S3 won't have much trouble getting their hands on one.
IMHO, this is far better than the approach taken by the other carriers, where it is STILL unclear exactly when the phone launches, certain people may get them today, some not for two weeks. Best Buy has no idea when they can sell them, and who knows when they'll show up in carrier stores. This adds a lot of frustration and confusion to the hype, and while its great to see a demand, its not the proper way to launch a phone (considering Samsung is doing their best to take a cue from Apple's marketing department with this phone).
If this theory is correct, Verizon and Samsung can start advertising now, always mentioning the July 9th date. The early release on other carriers increases hype and demand, but its pretty clear from the beginning when people can get it on VZW. Then come that date, preorders will show up, and people can buy it in stores. This is far better than the other carriers approach:
"Samsung Galaxy SIII, Available... Now? (maybe if you're lucky)"
