I took a few pictures with my Evo and thought I'd share. View my HTC Evo Sample Pics Picasa Album. To download the full size pic, look for the download link at the top of each pic.

I also took sample video in 720p using the Evo. I have to say, it's quite compressed and is no replacement for a dedicated 720p video camera, but not too shabby for a cell phone. View my sample video.

It's really not bad at all for a cell phone. Too many people expect the world from a camera phone. I think i'll be pretty pleased with the video and still captures on the Evo.

Those are better than I thought they would be. Does it have a macro mode?
Thanks OP.

Pictures look great. And yeah, they compressed that video quite a bit, but then again, if we want to share videos, even in a 4G area, uncompressed or mildly compressed video files would still be way too big.

Now for the important question, why do you already have an Evo and I don't? LOL... Google IO I am guessing?

So the video was 58MB when I uploaded it from the phone. So even with compression, you can see that videos are large files. As a matter of fact, the phone wouldn't upload it until I was connected to Wi-Fi. Got a message saying the file was queued until connected to Wi-Fi. Once I connected, it immediately started uploading.

I don't see a macro mode, but I haven't played with it enough to be certain. I doubt it though.

I got the Evo as a trade for a Nexus One from a guy who went to Google I/O and didn't want the Evo and wanted a Nexus. We did an even swap :-)

I think they look great. I don't really own a dedicated camera so if this is what I have to live with, I can live happily.

Again, I think it's a hit or miss.
I'm looking at the photos on my Pre and they look a little "off".
almost like a touch out of focus.

Other photos look the same but it's not consistent.

I'm very happy with the pictures. Not quite a DSLR quality, but the best I've seen from a phone. Same with the video...not as good as my Kodak Zi6 720p video camera, but haven't seen better on a phone. I'm quite content :-)

Can you adjust the aperature for taking photos? These pics seem to have a really low depth of field... seems like the aperature must be in the 1.8 - 2.8 range... for example, zoom in on that baby elephant picture. The right half of his face is pretty in-focus and the left half, which is only slightly farther away, is fairly blurry. I don't expect a cell phone to even remotely compete with a DSLR, but it ought to be in the same ballpark as a point-and-shoot. All the pics I have seen so far (not just this thread) have been fairly disappointing IMO. And trust me, I'm not trying to "hate". I've got an EVO on pre-order and I'm about to lose my mind I'm so excited to get it. But a great camera it doesn't seem to be.

FYI I left the settings at default so I really didn't experiment too much yet. I just wanted to see what pictures looked like right out of the box. Over the next few days I will experiment more and tweak settings and the like to see if the picture quality can be improved. But for me, right out of the box, these look pretty good.

The only thing I've been unhappy with so far is the low-light shots like from a concert setting. But thats being very nitpicky for a camera phone.
